I'm surprised there isn't a thread started already. Unfortunately, couldn't get out today this morning because of work. Looking forward to getting out tomorrow and Saturday for sure with my bro. Anyone have any luck yet?

I was seeing lots a birds a few weeks ago, but havn't seen much lately.

Attendance to the CGN Hunting forum is dropping off that's why. Too many hardasses & flamejobs.
Oh I don't know about that! I live in Alberta and I find this subject interesting.
Heck, just this morning I was out bunny blasting in the Great Outdoors.
I'm pretty sure there are some fellow residents out for spring black bear also.

Cheers...........

Going out with my brother this weekend as well! I'm pretty excited as this will be my first turkey hunt. Like you I was a bit surprised there wasn't a thread started already but I'm glad you broke the ice. Good luck to all Ontario wild turkey hunters!!!!

Had to pass on a shot at 2 fair size toms first thing. Unfortunately they were at 40 yards and 3 inchs apart.. God damn ethics

Bravo to you sir!!! A buddy just sent me a turkey video from "texas", I'll say imo the video was down right disturbing! Being an ethical hunter and taking clean kill shots is something to be proud of!

Sorry to derail the post. Work gets in the way for me to, I'll be going out Saturday, and have booked some weekdays off over the next few weeks. Good luck to all, gobble gobble.

That's better. Some chatter going now. Good on you for passing on a shot skip. That can be tough in he heat of the moment. Good luck to everyone who is headed out this weekend. Weather in SW Ont should be awesome starting tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Sorry to hear about your tag troubles brybenn. That sucks big time.

Texcritter and I both got mature toms this am before 7. Got my second lisc. and out again in the morning. Lots of birds around but not much calling. Hens I saw looked like they had brooded already, think we just got in before the breeding season ended. Took 2 days off work and the weekend then I will not be able to hunt so it's four days or bust...

Left three feet of snow with Gunner410 and drove nine hours south for turkey hunting north of Barrie yesterday. Met up with my daughter and headed out to the farm we hunt on. Everything that was green yesterday had over an inch of snow on it this morning. Gunner410 said we should have brought our snow camo.

Couple toms gobbling in the roost but didnt come our way. Weather crapped out this afternoon, looking forward to tomorrow AM.

"Guided" a good buddy who is also a member here to his first turkey, a 19 lb jake which he shot at 50 paces. We passed another smaller jake and have repositioned our blind for tomorrow morning. My turn on the trigger tomorrow, It was really nice to get him his first bird and at much longer range than I have ever shot one.

I got to go out with my friends son for his first turkey hunt this morning. After calling back and forth for a while, we saw a Tom come out of the woods 25 yards away. My friends kid(the one in the hat) shot the Tom. Then the funniest thing I have ever seen happened, FOUR Toms came running out of the woods right up to the downed Tom. I grabbed my gun and took the easiest bird I have ever taken. Needless to say, it was an exciting hunt for a new hunter!!!

My son and I were out for 4:30 am and left at 6:00 pm. We came up empty handed but had a great day out. Heard lots of gobbles, had about 7 hens come inside 15 yards and saw some deer very early. Started with snow on the ground and left with snow falling.

I see lots of toms strutting around on the way to work every day. It's a pain to hunt them here as you have to take a course to get showen what a turkey looks like. DUH. I raised a bunch from last year myself so if I was to hunt one I could just let it loose and shoot it I guess. My hens are all laying eggs like crazy here and have been for a couple of weeks. I need to get the incubator going here pretty soon.

I was out this morning in 82a. Got in just as the sun was coming up, later than I had planned. Heard gobbling as I set up some decoys. Tried calling I 3 jakes but hens were calling from the other side of the field. I lost but kept calling as heard other gobblers out there. A couples hours and the 3 jakes from first thing had finished up and circled in around me. They came in to 40 yards of my decoys and strutted and gobbled. They turned like they were leaving and got a clean shot on a nice jake. Great way to start the season. Started with snow on the ground but mid morning it had melted and the fields turned into a muddy mess for the hike out. All the best to those heading out.
