Do i need to be a member of a gunclub to buy this on this site? Just got my rpal in the mail (month & a half processed & sent out, after instructor told me it'd probably be july before i received it), was planning on joining one in june but this sale is just too good to pass up on

Back during the M-213 bonanza of 2009, at the height of ordering madness, I waited 20 days from order to my door (click of the mouse, transaction, transfer and shipped)........ I ordered 6 of them dang things!

Afaik if you are in ontario, you are good to go.

As per the law, you can either be a member of a club or a collector. If you order with neither, you still technically can own a restricted, since you have your license; however, there is no guaranty the CFO will approve the transfer.

If you can't join a club now, buy it for collection, wait for the transfer to be underway, then call your CFO and ask about the collector status. Or work something out with CANAM.

NOT TRUE. That may be the case in some provinces but it is not the case in others. In Ontario, you can simply give the name of a club you are considering joining and the transfer will go through.

You have to remember that by law, the only two reasons to own restricted firearms are for target practice and collecting. The CFO *could* refuse a transfer to someone who is not a member of a range, depending on the logic employed. Also, since CFOs make up rules as they go along, you can never take things for granted.

That being said, I can't wait for my 1911. I hope they'll have run out by the time I get it... I usually end up buying two when these kinds of deals come up.

Sure lots of things "could" happen. It just doesn't help anyone when people spread the wrong info.
 
Curse you - you know who you are. You let me talk myself into ordering one. Whatever you do - you know who you are - don't order one for yourself. Remember - you are not as weak as I am.
