Pictures from Vietnam -American Hardware Dial-up DEATH

Went thru that museum 6 yrs ago..still looks the same...but its definitely full of commie anti america propoganda! Drove my wife nuts as her dad was a General in the South VN army and she hates the commies.
Re firing guns at Cu Chi tunnels..it was ok..full auto jamming M16 but the barrels are tied down.
Touring famous battle sites like KheSanh, Hue, and even checking the old French pillboxes all over was cool.

If u want some real fun,, go to Cambodia..where for the same price you can free fire those and many more weapons and throw grenades. I shot the Ppsh on full auto the and M1 carbine and AK47. More fun than in Vietnam. Heck for $100 you fire an rpg!

Dirt cheap once you get there and pretty women everywhere....got caught looking a few times by my wife..
So your wife is asian? You lucky bastard. I heard that if you pay extra you can shoot a rpg at a cow. Asian chicks are so hot. Platoon is on tonight awesome!

Ya she is...born in Saigon..left there 20yrs ago. She has some wild stories n should write a book. ie trying to flee by boat..boat shot at by VN navy..all captured..6 months in Vn prison for trying to escape..hell on earth etc..
Her lufe went from Lifestyle of the rich and famous to poverty after the commies took over. Her dad was imprisoned for yrs far away in the north for yrs until he had a stroke. Then they released him n he died soon after.
crazy part is they had the option to be evacuated by the Americans but her mom didnt want to go so they all stayed n suffered
Sorry.rambling on..but ya..hot women who treat you very well

Funny thing is a large % of boat people were N Vietnamese fleeing their very own commie govt after the war. It just goes to show commie north was the aggressor and oppressor of its own people all along.

yes thats a good point, apparently there is alot of resentment now still in the South at losing the war to the North

I should imagine so. The Communists enslaved the Southerners. Millions of Southerners died in Communist "re-education" camps. Even today, Southerners are not allowed to hold any sort of position of authority or status. Even after all these years of brainwashing and political indoctrination, the Communists still don't trust the Southerners. Probably with good reason.

The largest single group to flee by boat were the ethnic Chinese.. The commies werent too happy with them..their enemy for centuries. The brief Sino-Viet war followed in 79.

The pictures of the Skyraider (aka Spad) are cool- and if you want to read a truly great true story of flying those back then, pick up a copy of Richard S. Drury's "My Secret War". Amazing the punishment those aircraft could take and still fly.

I notice that the roundels on the US Skyraider are not defaced, but the South VN roundels are crossed through on the Huey and the F5

Yep for sure, don't know about the 2nd part.

Taken from wikipedia:

All 4 remaining original China Lake Model grenade launchers are on display in museums. One, serial number 4, is at the UDT/ SEAL Museum in Fort Pierce, Florida while serial number 13, is found in the War Remnants Museum (Ho Chi Minh City) in Vietnam.,[1] another is stored at the US Navy Museum in Washington DC.[3] One additional launcher is on limited display in highly restricted US Navy facilities at NSWC Crane

It's also important to remember that the US and the South Vietnamese were allied, fighting the North - so it wasn't as if it was the US vs. the Vietnamese as a whole.

Actually, there were quite a number of countries fighting in the war.

Besides South Vietnam and the US, other countries that supplied troops were Austrailia, New Zealand, South Korea, Thailand, the Phillipines, The Khymer Republic (Cambodia), and Laos. It's believed that British Special Forces such as the SAS also served there in small numbers for "training" purposes.

On the enemy side (unofficially, as this was supposed to be an internal war of "liberation") was China, USSR, (Both with support troops; pilots, air defence techs, etc.) the Khymer Rouge and the Pathet Lao. Cuba and North Korea also supplied "advisers".

Over 320,000 South Korean troops fought in Vietnam over the course of the war, as well as 60,000 Austrialians and 3000 New Zealanders.

Canada had no involvement in the war, but many Canadians joined the US Military and fought there.
