Hi all,

I want to start reloading for my 338 Lapua Mag. What are you guys using?

Single stage press or progressive?

Please let me know.

Cheers.

Single stage (RCBS Supreme). Have a Dillon 650 and they don't make a conversion kit for the 650. They do make one for the 550. Doesn't take that long to make 40-50 rounds using single stage and a powder measure and scale.

I use single stage and Redding dies, to me Redding dies are worth the extra money. I bought them from Brownells/Sinclair in the USA.

Single stage for sure.
338 is about accuracy not mass production. Take your time be precise and get good results. Progressive presses in my opinion are for making ammo for semi auto firearms where you are going through so much ammo that you need to make a couple hundred or more every time you load.
I have a redding magnum single stage press for my rifle loads and a Lee progressive for loading for my pistols.

Single stage, Lee 50th. Use Redding type 'S' bushing die, Redding Body die and forester micrometer bullet seating die. RCBS shell holder in the lee press, RCBS funnel (lee one is too small), Lee powder thrower and top it off with a RCBS trickler. Oh i cant wait to get a Chargemaster combo........ someday...

I've had my chargemaster combo for a few months and my production rates have increased dramatically.
Buy it, you won't regret it.

I have the hornady one but will be switching to the RCBS one this summer, too many problems with the Hornady one, like the scale jumping up and down .5 of a grain even when the powder is not falling, and a long warmup time.
