Where to find 7.62 x 51 in ontario?

Its not the same.
Checked the numbers?

308, officially, has a 2000psi higher max pressure than 7.62 NATO. That amounts to about 103% max pressure. Factory civilian ammo is not loaded to max pressure so it's essentially a guarantee that 308 is actually operating at lower pressure than surplus 7.62. Most quality civilian arms are proof tested at ~130% max pressure; I have no idea what military arms are proofed at. External dimensions of the two cartridges are identical.

So unless your rifle is going to explode at only 103% max pressure I fail to see a problem (and that is assuming you are firing max pressure, hand loaded 308 rounds and not lower pressure factory 308 rounds).

Not buying this one bud. Sorry!

SAAMI, the body that regulates all small arms ammunition in the US (and as an extension most of Canada), says that .308 Winchester and 7.62x51mm NATO are interchangeable. They are the ones that, literally, wrote the book on cartridge dimensions and maximum pressures. If their word isn't good enough for you then maybe you should see a witch doctor next time you're sick instead of a regulated, licensed medical doctor.

No need for insults! Take pill and chill. I'm more interested in your claim that no factory loaded .308 is loaded to max pressures. You got a source for this or have you tested all factory rounds yourself? And the pressure differences normally listed on sites like this are higher than 2000PSI it's more like 12,000 PSI.

From what I understand though is that the pressures are measured at different points on the cases of the .308 to the milspec 7.62. As far as I know 7.62 externally is built to .308 spec but the main difference is in pressure, velocity and chamber specs. Sammi states that it is safe to shoot 7.62 Nato in a .308 chambered rifle but it's a POSSIBLE unsafe condition to shoot .308 in a 7.62 chambered rifle.

That's actually the reverse of the 5.56/.223 cartridge debate, Sammi states as such as well. The ultimate choice of what to shoot is with the shooter! They take all responsibilities doing so and we all know that many many people interchange the cartridges and shoot them without incident. It may not be a big a deal as people make it out to be but Better safe than sorry and I will listen to the expert's ( like Sammi) and not random internet posting stating what's safe and what's not.

Can Am is 499 shipped. Trade Ex has more comming in and their last price (last month) was 469 shipped. TSE back at Christmas was 419....... So, I'll wait. Right now Can Am is the only place with them in stock and they are too busy with the 1911's to compete on anything else.

I think TradeEx will have more in stock soon. I want to see what price TSe will relaunch @ when they get more.
