Looking foR A LOUD AR15 muzzle brake

Asking for the loudest = Ignorant

The most effective would be the better bet.

I was at the range a few days ago, and this moron was shooting his AR on the action range at 10m, with the loudest muzzle brake I have heard in awhile, just spraying bullets at a target like an idiot.

I left.

Just sayin....

you forgot about the Harley guys with the exhausts so loud that it sets off car alarms.

A lot off topic but.......

I have a Jap bike. I'm constantly getting cut off in traffic......

I have 6 friends that have Harley's with stoopid loud exhausts. They never get cut off in traffic.......

Personally I think the louder the exhaust the safer ride you are going to have.......

Now back to our regular programming......

I think just about any break you rock on a 7.5 is going to make the cut.

Bare in mind, that breaks don't actually make the gun louder, they just direct the sound around instead of ahead.

So what I'd do, if I were in your position, is choose a break based on "looks". Look for one with vent ports that are aimed in the directions that you want to send the noise.

Some breaks direct it more upwards, some more to the side, you'd want one that directs more to the side. So yeah, I think something like the NEA crusader should be had for cheap and easy. Otherwise, just skim thru' the EE for something that Looks loud and chances are it'll cut it.

If you're crafty, you can play with acoustics. I Currently have an ATRS break . . . their break, not their eliminator compensator, and it directs the ports more upwards then towards the side. As a result, if I'm shooting that unit out on the covered desk, the concussion will bounce off the ceiling and punch me in the back of the head. It's quite the experience.

Hmm, now I'm picturing you and your buddies shifting positions around the range trying to find the "best acoustics".

Oh, I don't know, but I've been told, that because of how inefficient the 7.5 system is, if you put those kinds of breaks on them, there is a chance you'll get showered in carbon and unburnt powder.

What length AR bbl?

I have an 20" bbl AR-15 with a brake on it that is as loud as my .338LM, feels like a similar blast too...

Who, me ?

That break has frequented my 11.5 and 16". Can't recall which is was on at the time, probably the 11.5.
It's currently on my 16" but I kind of want to pull it off, it's just too much now that I'm running hot Norinco Surplus.

Was referring to the OP, but good to know all the same.

I use a Miculek type brake on my 11.5" and people move away from me at the range :). If your right next to me the gas that shoots out knocks over or blows away anything paper and flips your hair up, I can see the frustration when people are trying to time there shot with mine because there so load.

Im not a jerk and have mentioned to people im planning on changing it and that im sorry, they just say right back how cool it is and want to take a look. Im looking for a new one for my 14.5" and I might put this one on that and buy a more directional type comp for the 11.5".

So yah Miculek type brake is load as @&$! :).

P.S. it does not effect accuracy at all what so ever. After all the fine tuning this just be the most consistantly accurate gun I've owned.

Cheers,
Evan

Yeah exactly. I have a vz58 compact sporter with a 7.5 inches and a vz brake..blows away any target papers or empty boxes of amo placed on the side.
Same here ppl come over my booth to find out what the hell I'm shooting. I didn't cross anyone who was annoyed by it. Au contraire folks likes it.
Altho my ar is a 16 inch, I think a brake on it wouldnt be as loud
There is so much choices out there thst I'm having a hard time choosing.

I don't presently own any black rifles (sold my 858 to my brother) so some might consider me a bit of a fudd but we all have to live together right?

At the range when I'm developing loads with my magnum I just count 10 bangs (from the guys on either side of me with black rifles with brakes) then I shoot  while they reload.

Later I go out and ride my harley with obnoxiously loud pipes.
