Well, just pulled the trigger and bought a XCR .223 at wolverine. It's on backorder, but should be here in 3 weeks.

A Couple quick questions.

1) What is the difference between the Regular XCR, L, M and Micro?

2) How do I change the stock to a magpul ctr?

3) I also bought the 7.62 x 39 conversion, how easy is it to change the gun and is surplus 7.62 ok in the gun?

4) Any problems I should be looking out for?

5) Is there a warranty depot in Canada or do I have to send it back to the states if I have any problems?

L = Small caliber (ie 223)
M = Larger caliber (ie 308)
Micro = Short barrel rifle version. The frame and rails have also been shortened.

2) How do I change the stock to a magpul ctr?
You need a stock adaptor. Do some searching on XCR stock adapter on the forums and you will see 2 different kinds available with instructions. It is easy. NEA made an M4 stock adapter. The EZED adaptor is to put an ACR stock on.

3) I also bought the 7.62 x 39 conversion, how easy is it to change the gun and is surplus 7.62 ok in the gun?
As simple as switching bolts, then remove the pinch bolt holding the barrel and put the new one in.

4) Any problems I should be looking out for?
Not enough free time for at the range is all the problems I have had.

5) Is there a warranty depot in Canada or do I have to send it back to the states if I have any problems?
If you got it from Wolverine talk to them about warranty. They are a very good dealer.

Enjoy your new XCR.

I'm also lookin for this adapter ... Looks like the guy who made it , isn't making it anymore.... And trying to get one is like pulling teeth.
Juan for all: can you steer me in the direction of the nea adapter??? Searched the forums and found nothing but this conversation.

Put and ad in the EE for "WTB NEA Adapter". I did and got a bunch of responses. There is another brand too but I cannot remember what it was.

Hey Juan thanks for your help.

I was wondering if you know where we can get the old stock the xcr used to come with. Don't really like these new ones.

Thanks,

I would give the fast stock a try, at first I was planning on changing it but I ended up liking it. I think the other adaptor was from dlask but I'm not sure.

1 - XCR-L comes factory in .223/556, 6.8, and 7.62x39 and is non-restricted in factory config. M comes in .308 win and is non-restricted in factory config. Micro comes factory in .223/556, 6.8, and 7.62x39 and is restricted and registered as a pistol (aka never can be non-restricted).

3 - Personally I wouldn't shoot surplus through it and leave that to the SKS, but that's just me. It runs fine on surplus if that's your thing, just make sure to clean accordingly and if you ever go to re-sell make sure to advertise it's shot surplus.

4 - Recoil buffer. Some run for thousands of rounds and some break after a few hundred. Needless to say it's a crappy part to go down and have your rifle out of commission due to a small piece of plastic. Buy 10 spares, I'm not kidding, buy lots of spare recoil buffers.

Also if you're going to run the FAST stock buy extra power springs for the locking mechanism. That's the weakest point of the stock and tends to wear down allowing the stock to fold on it's own. Kind of makes you wonder why they didn't build a mechanical lock into the stock. Of course YMMV, and I believe there have been 3-4 different production runs of the FAST with different spring tensions in them (first being the weakest) so depending on the production run people may have a great stock or a piece of spaghetti. At any rate get extra power springs if you're going to run the FAST, at least as a spare part.

Rest seem to have been answered.

As for the EZed ACR stock adapter they were a limited run and a huge pain in the mans butt, so he didn't do any further runs and they're unavailable. Those who have them regularly charge $200 or more and that's without the ACR stock, just for the adapter. Kind of hoping the idea will catch on and be made again or taken up by a larger company that could do a large production run. A few did make it into Canada if you want to post a EE WTB ad, just be ready to cough up the asking price of the seller, which in this case is likely to be $200 or more.

Just to add to the recoil buffer issue, I clipped the corners off of my buffer and haven't had a problem since. When it wasn't clipped the upper would push down and eventually break the nipple off.

I got my stock adaptor from Wolverine.I got most everthing from them but the TTO compensator.I also burned up a buffer on setting four.Buffers shouldnt fail unless using to high a setting .Ive been using setting two since and have had no problems.Having some spare parts is not a bad idea.If you reload try a brass catcher from E&L MFG.com

You are welcome nemo.

Not sure but I bet the EE would stir one up for you if you posted a WTB ad.
