Well boys, here we go again.

I just bought a reasonably priced Norc M305 and I need to get a scope on this thing. The mounts I have seen in the past look rather cheezy and hokey to me...and I see the fine fellas over at M14.ca seem to have some new mounts that seem to be a little more solid.

What say the gurus on this? Is there a consensus on preferred scope mounts? The irons on my rifle are loose as hell so I don't mind sacrificing the irons at all. My eyes are getting old and couldn't take advantage of them anyways.

As always, your two cents is sincerely appreciated.

Cheers,

Filthie

Maybe Hungary can speak up...

Aluminium is considered too easily broken, loosening, etc.

There was a metal one that looked similar to the M14.ca CASM that attached to the rear sight, to the stripper guide notch and to the traditional scope screw hole (that CASM doesn't) but wasn't the ARMS mount #18 (some people have ejection issues with the 18 being low). There had been some discussion is was the best metal option between the M14.ca CASM attaching to the sight & being higher and the ARMS #18 using the traditional receiver scope mount hole.

Damn. I want to remember too... but I just can't.

I guess I gotta give it up to the other CGN people to remember for me, sorry. :HR:

I think ARMS has an open mount to help the ejection problem. I have the Promag copy(from Mystic) and it works well. At just over $100 it's the cheapest you should consider but you'll get the performance you pay for.
Height is an issue and the ARMS or Promag are about the lowest mount I've found.

That is why I don't want to 'cheap out' perforator. I am looking for the best scope mount on the market. Then (with the help of the firearm forum folk) I am going to find the best smith to do the work.

I am a re-formed gun wh0re. This will be my last rifle (and I really really really mean it this time) - so I want the best I can get. It seems to me that the cool kids are advocating steel construction over aluminum...
