If you can't afford parts, you can't afford the firearm. Check your priorities and adjust accordingly. A spare extractor and even a spare bolt should be the minimum of spare parts on hand. Firearms take a lot of stress and abuse during use. Sh*t breaks, get used to it. Less money spent on stupid accessories and more money spent on spare parts, ammo and training will go a long way.

This is where your mentality hits a brick wall. Some people can only afford budget firearms and parts, and when those break prematurely, they can't just go out and spend $250 on a new bolt carrier. Some of us have priorities like rent, mortgage, insurance, children, etc. Cost of living is high now, and we all want to enjoy our shooting sports as much as the other. I approve of some of your posts and advice, but half the time you come off as an elitist snob. At no point was anything mentioned about accesories either so I'm not quite sure why that was brought up.

Little a bit of "FACK" today at the range.....

First off, I have spares.... I have a spare BCG. As well as a spare bolt.

I actually have to agree with TDC tho, if you want to play you have to pay! Sacrificing spare parts or ammo so you can buy an AFG or some other kool-aid is not a good idea, IMHO.

That said, I had the BCG for less than a month. Hopeing the manufacturer will warrantee the part. But we will see..... Why should I be out the price of a bolt if I don't have to be?

Just an update, I called and emailed the retailer yesterday. Still no response......
 
My buddy down in TX had his PWS piston SBR shear a lug and peen the chamber lugs shooting either Wolf or Tula (both low pressure loads if you didn't know). Maybe not totally relevant, but I figured I'd throw that in.

So tell us wise one (at least in your own little world anyway) when something fails that you bought with your hard earned money, do you just toss it in the garbage and buy something new or do attempt for warranty assistance?

The purpose of this persons topic was to show a failure on a new product that has been floating around on here, nobody asked about priorities or what spares we all need to keep shooting. Accessories that are "stupid" to you may be a thing of beauty to the next guy, that is what keeps world going around and the economy rolling...

PS, dont go telling us nothing has ever failed for you lol.

Pretty hard to call in a warranty claim when you're DEAD.





That #### is unreal in a time when some well respected AR mfgs stop doing some of the usual bolt tests since the failure rate is 0%. I mean WTF.

It depends, sometimes I do just toss it in the garbage and go get another one, sometimes I keep the sub-par one as a spare… really depends. I usually only pull the warranty card when I feel I have been wronged or deceived.
 
I don't get why people have their panties in a knot over this.

Anything mechanical can break. It doesn't matter if it's made by the best manufacturer on the planet. You roll the dice and take your chances...If you shoot enough, you learn this quickly.

If the bolt was new (within a thousand rounds) I'd contact the manufacturer and exchange or return it. If it's not new, just replace it with a bolt from a quality manufacturer and move on.

No this FA BCG came from the other Canadian supplier..... I wasn't going to name names until I find out how there warranty is.....

Also, it didn't just shear a lug. A significant portion of the bolt body was also forcibly removed in the incident!

But... that can;t be. Only NEA AR15 bolts have ever sheared lugs in the history of AR15 bolts. I read it on the internet - has to be true.

How does having a warranty claim have anything to do with dying? I'm still trying to comprehend what you meant in relevance to my previous post...

To be honest, this is the worst 'sheared bolt lug' I have seen that didn't result in a KB..... In all humility, its kind of hard to see in the pictures, but there is a fairly significant amount of material missing from the bolt, plus some small cracks to the next lug and a crack that runs to the fireing pin hole.... This is not "just a sheared lug". This a major componant complete failure. IMHO

I would take better pictures, but I have chosen to spend all of my spare $$ on guns and gun stuff, so all I have is an iPhone camera..... :D

If all it would have done was shear a lug on the bolt I would have continued to shoot that BCG, as opposed to replacing it with the spare in my kit.....

I sure do, I carry a sidearm every day for work. If I break a part, I either warranty if it's still under or replace it... I still don't understand how you are trying to associate the two. If you're stupid enough to use either a brand new gun that hasn't been proven or one that's been shot to the point where it's going to need parts replaced very soon, you're basically asking for it if you rely on one for self-defense.
