A friend picked up some miscellaneous reloading supplies and these were in the stuff. It is a necked down .308 case shortened to 1.520", bullet size is .284. Can anyone tell me what it is supposed to be?
You might be on to someting there. I know he did a 458 x 1 1/2". I was thinking maybe one of the JD Jones "Whisper" cartrdges but COTW didn't show anything, and I don't think he uses the .308 as a parent case.I think Barnes shortened the .308 case down to many sizes, and then necked it up and down.....

7MM Bench Rest/ 7mmBR....
I win!
bullet is too big to be 6mm. maybe 7mm
The 7mm BR uses SRP in factory guise. most people resize 308 or 243 cases because they are hard/expensive to findTechnically it's not a 6 BR necked up because the 6 BR uses a small rifle primer and those are obviously large rifle. But it is a derivative and dimensionally a match except for the primer size.
