Hi All,

Am I required to obtain a temp ATT to move a stripped pistol frame to my friends house for painting? What is the best technique and paint to use for a matte blued handgun frame?

Thanks for your help and looking...

Yes, you require an ATT to transport the frame (which is the firearm) to your friends home. All regular restricted transport and storage rules apply to a frame just as if it were a fully assembled/functional firearm.

Sadly yes, you need a ATT to move your stripped pistol frame to your friend's house. It's the frame (receiver) that is the registered part of the pistol.

Note that if your friend doesn't have restricted license, which would allow him to "borrow" that stripped frame from you, you have to stay at his place babysitting it until it is dry enough for you to take it home.

Buddy not restricted....

Looks like the only way to go is Dura-coat or Parkerizing? Surprised there's not a bunch of us nutterz that haven't bought Duracoat spray gun kits to do it themselves the kits seem pretty cheap (relative to this hobby).... If so please let me know of your experiences

I'm sure comeone will correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Duracoating requires that the firearm also be bead-blasted before coating for proper adhesion. As peverse as it may seem (PUTTING FLAME SUIT ON NOW...) I've occas. had thoughts of putting a black finish on my S&W 625. But having to also set up for bead blasting is more than I'm prepared to handle at the moment.

:) Stuart
