Who makes lightweight laminate stocks

D&B Supply ......Obeche wood laminate.

I have several, one on a Baity Custom Colt ULA in .308 Norma Mag. 24" No.3 taper.

This rig weighs less than 7Lbs with a Leupold LPS 2.5x10x45mm.

look at w w w.scopeusout.com you will not be disapointed in this stock. It's as light as a Wildcat, only wood.

Tsavo - the website is pretty weak - can you give us some more detailed info on your stock - actual weight (swivels/pad), cost, inletting etc? Wildcat makes some pretty darned lightweight stocks, so this laminated stock interests me.

start with a boyds lightweight the drill, hog out and reconture till you loose the required weight. even at that i don't think you will better a wildcat or mac edge but you may get close with a lot of work.

I have two wildcats.

The Obeche wood is as light as Balsa, with greater tensile.

A Shehane Tracker is a great way to stay under 16lbs for NBR1000 lightweight class.

As for the actual weight, I would have to pull the BBL action out. Considering how its been shooting, I dont think I'll do that to prove the point, suffice it to say, the stock is very light. I dont have photobucket account, but the stock on my CULA is french walnut stain laminate and is truly an attractive colour pattern.

This stock is a undiscovered treasure on a sheep rig.

Cheers, Tsavo

I have built at least 12 rigs using H-S, Bell and Carlson, Manners, McMillan etc... but this time, want to build it on a laminate for looks as well as accuracy. I will be using a Rem 700 LA, a Lilja#3 pipe-25" long and a Leupold 12 oz glass. I want to keep the finished weight around 7 1/2 lbs.

I thought I would post a few pics, to demonstrate weight and appeal of Obeche wood. Consider the scope is a Leupold LPS 2.5x10x45mm with 24" No. 3 KMP barrel, with Talley steel rings and base.

The stock was copied via pantograph from the tupperware original by D&B, then installed by Leonard Baity. I do not know the actual cost, as the build was a gift.

D&B will copy and inlet to spec. as a one-off like this Colt will attest.

Wow, I should not read CGN before my first pot of coffee. I got the feeling that I was being called out. I sat brooded, pissed wailed, then realized............ I was just uptight about someone pointing out my lack of commitment to one the few threads I have ever waded into.

I took it as a positive opportunity to edify myself on which stock is lighter, do some scope swaps, and best of all spend some trigger time doing load development.

I took a few of my lightweights apart, to weigh the components...........Low and behold, I may have been in error.

I tried to keep an Apples to Apples comparison, as much as possible, so all had butt pads. The wildcat is a one off Sako profile (bigger) but had no swivels or bottom metal. The Obeche had swivels and ADL style guard. The last had ADL guard, 3/4 of a TRG magazine present, swivels and an extra metal compartment in the pommel.

Of the three rigs, the Obeche wood was not the lightest.

Pics to follow.
