I just picked up my first CZ rifle. A back to basics, iron sight 455 standard in .22 WMR . I haven't had a rimfire in quite some time, so this is going to be a fun pinker /target gun for me. My question to those who have CZ 455's in wmr, what is the most accurate ammo that you have found to work in your rifles? I won't use any FMJ ammo as I try to do everything possible to prevent ricochets due to my location, plus I like clean kills on varmints.

Thanks for your input.

I think you will find that most people tell you that the most accurate WMR in just about any rifle are the .30gr Hornady V-Max, or the Remington equivalent, the .33gr Accutips.
My Savage prefers the Accutips, shooting a consistent 1.25MOA on a calm day.
The Winchester was the worst in my gun...3-4"MOA....terrible results.

Hornady 30gr vmax. With this said 22lr can shoot smaller groups at 100 then wmr I found.

x2. Don't get caught up reading the rimfire forums on accuracy and expecting the .22WMR to be on that level.
A number of things come into play. There's lots more manufacturers of LR ammo...much of it target quality.
You can't beat the WMR for knockdown punch at 100-150m...just don't expect target accuracy out of it.

Thanks for all the input. I did manage a couple sub 1" groups at 50yd the first time out with both Remington 33gr, and winchester supreme. Not fantastic, but good enough for what I bought the rifle for. I would like to find some Hornady to try for sure.

I have a practically brand-new CZ 455 in 22WMR.
So far the best shooting ammo in it is the Winchester Silver box 40 grain jacketed soft point.
Next is the Remington 33 grain Accutip.
Most ammo shoots under 1" at 50M, the best shoots easy half of that.
Regards, Eagleye.

Just wanted to add, I completely have fallen in love with this gun.

Originally put a scope on it, and shot out to 100m, but have since taken the scope off, and it is my go to plinker/quad gun.

Last time out to the range I was shooting 1 inch groups at 50m with irons, and the guy next to me with some old semi was pissed. LOL

I must agree. While in a big fan of my centerfire rifles, I have never had a rifle shoulder so perfectly as this rifle! I have the lux style beech stock, and with the iron sights, it's a perfect fit. I can't see myself ever parting with this one! The quality of the stock, action, and overall workmanship is exactly what I was looking for.

After I shoot what wmr ammo I have the barrel from my cz will be up for sale. My cz hmr shoots excellent I am pretty disappointed in the wmr accuracy.

Wow. I have a 455 Lux and last week here I shot my best ever 5 shot group at 50 yds of 1/8 inch with CCI Maxi Mags HPs. Have both 22LR and 22 Mag barrels but only use the 22mag. Have a 1022 for 22LR. That is not very accurate. The 455 in 22 mag will shoot 1/2 inch groups all day long at 50 but I kept the 1/8 inch group target. Don't know how to post pics on here. Sorry.

That's usually the story.
