So I go to buy my bear licence and here us Sask guys have to go online and register with this HAL program. The Sask gov't website says the spring bear licence is available over their website. I look and it is nowhere so I call a free number they give to order them on the phone. I get on the phone with a women with an accent and here I find out that the people answering calls are from Nebraska USA. I flat out said this is B.S and hung the phone up. Why the hell is someone in Nebraska trying to give me advice on how to buy Sask bear tags...they were clueless. Hey Sask party, why not give those jobs to Sask or Canadian residents???

This here gets you a free call to some dickhead in the usa

Licences may also be purchased by phone toll-free at 1-855-848-4773 (8:00 am - 9:00 pm CST) and at licence issuers (see current licence issuer listing).

Didn't know that. When I bought my license they registered my HAL right there in the store. Cost 3 bucks for the HAL number. Quite a bit different this year.

Yeah you can register online.

The Ministry of Environment has automated its hunting, angling and trapping licensing (HAL) system. Effective April 1 at 9:00 am, you can purchase your angling and spring bear licences. All remaining licences will be available in time for the fall hunting season.

I don't see any spring bear on there either, only angling.

I got my HAL number online not sure wtf it's good for yet. Ill still go and pick my tags up at a local shop. I'm sure the draw will get bumped back again before it opens late on the 13th.

interesting that Sask is using a service provider from Nebraska for bear tags.
I had a nice lady from somewhere in the USA, maybe Nebraska but I forget, call me about 3 months ago to conduct a hunter info survey on behalf of BC fish and wildlife/ Ministry of environment. It was a survey to determine how much time, money the average Joe spends on his favorite pastime. Questions regarding everything from how much was spent on travel, licenses + tags, equipment, guns/ammo, hotel/meals, guide outfitter fees etc etc. I think I really skewed the survey when I told her I got my moose in my back yard so all I spent was $0.50 for 1 round of 30-06 plus license and tag.

At least it's better english than Singapore. If Nebraska can do it for half the cost of a Canadian company, isn't that the best use of your tax dollars?

They are supposed to have the bear licences online right now so I signed up for this stupid thing. They ask height, eye color ect...basically have a profile on a guy. I do all this to find out that the only licences available are fishing ones and I have to go to a SERM office. I also meant to type Tenesee,,some how I typed Nebraska..lol Same thing. I just hate this outsourcing of jobs by our own government to people who have no clue.

It's not like it's going to affect the level of service as the majority of SERM employees don't have a clue either.

I do not agree with this statement. The few people that are left in SERM do a good job. The problem is that our elected officials choose to ignore their work and recomendations.

My son and I received our HAL with no issues. Now just to wait for the Canadian Resident whitetail draw. Are there any more whitetails in Saskatchewan?.........bad winter.

My buddy and I took our dogs out for a run and we counted 18 deer carcases in a 1 square mile area, not looking good.

Got my bear tags and here is another kick in the balls. The tags have no string and no sticky back to fasten them to the animal. I asked why they would do this and their reply at the SERM office is that it is your responsibility to bring a stapler or string. Like seriously...does it cost that much to apply adhesive to the back of a tag...FAIL I think the Sask Party is just plain disrespectful pulling this crap on hunters. They cut and cut anything to do with hunting. Not like we have better options but come on !!!!!
