TIkka Tactical in a Cadex Stirke Chassis, has anyone done it?

you sir, are Incorrect.

I hate to admit it cause it's so rare, but yes I was ;). Here's a quote straight from KRG's website:

"Tikka T3 in long action calibers (there is currently no magazine which will work as the AICS magnum magazines will not work with the T3)."

So it's a magazine issue, I was confused because I have read directly from KRG on other forums "We don't make W3's for long action tikkas", I didn't know that by "long action" they meant long action calibers.

correction in previous post

In any case, will have to measure bolt pattern on both the TRG 22/42 to see if the bolt pattern of the Tactical lines up to at least two of the (receiver) bolt holes.

All the Tikkas come with the same action, with different ejection port cutouts for long, medium and short action - and then 2 different bolt stops (short/medium and long). The action itself is the same for all of them. The Sako A7 has 2 different action lengths, and the 85 has 6 different action lengths.

So if you get a .223 you get the same 'long' action with a smaller port size, however the actions can still be referred to as long, medium and short actions. Their overall dimensions are the same. The best way to tell this is with the mags, they are all the same body but with "blocks" in the rear of the mag for the short and medium actions (except for the short-mag magazines are different widths). One reason I went to the AI conversion on my T3 Tac, to get the AIs longer mag overall length to seat bullets further out.

you can make it fit, but I would recomend that you do that to a trg42 stock and try to get it to work, it would worth the trouble, the best thing for u to do is keep the t3 as it set up, it already a pretty accurate gun, you can do some truing up the action and locking locking lug, may be different stock, the stock come with the t3 are quife cheap, you can use fiberglass filling in side the stock near the action and around the barrel Channel to stiff up the stock!

Your best option that is somewhat reasonable in cost is the KRG Whiskey 3 chassis . Their folding stock is made like Swiss watch. I have one on my TRG-42 ( anybody want a green OEM stock ! )

The machine work, fit and finish is impeccable . Only issue is it took forever to actually get one

Second option for Tikka is the XLR Industries Evolution chassis . The folding mechanism is made by Ace Stocks . They do what they are suppose to do but is not a nice as the KRG . Advantage of this system is its actually inexpensive for what you are getting

Lastly, a T3 action will not drop into a TRG stock ( I tried ) . I just got use to the cheap plastic stock of my Tikka Tac

If you actually price a replacement TRG stock you wouldn't even consider using that. The TRG42 folding ( not including forend ) is $2900 @ Brownells WITH gunsmith discount ! ) The non folding OEM is about $1500

We've already been over this, the t3 in LA calibers is not supported by the KRG platform or any other chasis. A Tikka T3 will also not fit into the aluminum backbone of a trg 22 or 42, just won't work. I would suggest selling the rifle as is and going with a platform with wide aftermarket support. You can build a nice custom on a Surgeon or Defiance action for that $4000.

FWIW I have owned many TRG's still have a few, have owned the factory folding stock by sako. Not cheap I get it.

I am looking for a different rifle I want to be able to drop Tikka Tax into a nice folder. These are gifts so was looking to save a few $K.

I hear the tikka tac will not fit the Sako TRG stock, but what I have not yet heard is if someone has tried to drop one into both the TRG22 and TRG 42. If only two of the action screws catch that's good enough, the trg has three, the tikka only two.

I could resolve this myself were I close to my Sako inventory, but I am not. and don't have access to a TRG, so hence the OP

OP is asking about Tikka Tac, which is SA .

It won't work, it does not fit. Gunboy and myself have both told you it's a no-go. Contact KRG by email so they can respond with the same information we are providing you, maybe then it can be put to rest.

The god dam ejection ports are the same on all of the tikka t3 actions. The only difference between sa and la calibers is the bolt stop, bolt face and internal dimensions of the magazine.

I was misinformed by the Stoeger Canada rep about the ejection port issue then, not the only thing he was incorrect about. Sorry about that :)

thanks Derrick. i guess i am a man of little faith as i have yet to hear someone say theyve tried it in both trgs. there are two different size trgs. are there not? schematics look the same but cannot find anything online with dimensions. if its not too big of a job to make it work then im up for it.

The owner/founder of spuhr mounts machined a new chassis/backbone to accept a tikka t3 varmint barrelled action chambered in 6.5x55. Hakan, a genius level machinist, was unable to use the factory trg backbone and scratch built his. He bolted the trg furniture to the backbone and was using trg 300wm magazines. He may be able to build you such a piece, you would then be able to run the more reasonably priced krg stock hardware but still stuck using slightly modified trg mags.

I was wrong spuhr had to use factory t3 mags in his chassis, doesn't sound as cool anymore.

Sounds like buying the TRG with factory folding stock is the ticket. Thanks for all the input folks
