Does anyone in this country carry/stock full length 20" original style "pencil barrels"?

Seems all anyone carries or wants anymore are 2" tactical barrels for CQBWP (close quarter battles with paper)....

Anyone know of a dealer/store stocking these anywhere?

the 4R has a GOVT Profile barrel, I think he is looking for the Older thin profile that was used on the earlier m16's.

As for where to find one, Unfortunately, like you mentioned most are interested in the carbine and shorter lengths(16" and shorter). Regular GOVT profile and heavy profiles are all you can find if you do ever come across them, thin profile barrels are very rare as far as I know.

Keep an eye on the EE, you might get lucky, or another option would be to get a hold of Alberta Tactical Rifle Supply in Calgary for a custom stainless, match grade barrel. They can turn you a barrel with any profile, length, twist rate, chambering (.223rem, 5.56, 223 wylde, ect) you want. ATRS would probably be the best option and the one I use. a 20" would cost you $550 plus tax and shipping, so not a cheap option, and their is a wait time from a few weeks to months, depending on how far away their next bath of barrels is.

That's exactly what I meant. I thought I was the one who was confused here lol.

I know the 20" Gov barrels are just A1 pencil barrels with beefed up metal past the gas block. Usually a higher twist as well etc. But very similar.
Actually the Ordnance Corps story of how the government profile barrels came to be is a humorous read. A defective measurement method of the pencil barrels lead them to believe that all barrels tested from field use had bent! The device was actually getting hung up on the taper pin slots in the barrels and giving them false readings. They decided to beef up the portion just forward of the gas black to muzzle. Think about it. It really doesn't serve any purpose to have a thin profile barrel except for a large chunk of extra steel at the very tip lol

Oh well, the search continues :D

I guess I could turn down my 20" Gov't barrel on a mill and re anodize her.

exactly, I see used colt pencil barrel uppers for $650 on EE, sell off the remaining parts and you are on top

I see the Stag 4R above. Thanks for the mention. While we have sold 20" Gov Profile as mentioned above previously, the 4R now on offer is the .80" under the handguards, Service Rifle barrel.
Cheers,
Walt
