Scope mounting on T97

I figured, since T97 was designed and built in Red China, this should really be posted in Red Rifles. I don't know why most of the threads are in Black&Green.. Anyway..

As you guys know, there's currently no way to turn this gun into a flattop or even lower the height of the carry handle, so I gotta mount optics on top. AFAIK, pretty much all of the scope mounts for flattop rifles are typically designed to raise the scope to carry handle height for proper cheek weld, which leaves us in a pretty unique situation. For that reason, I'm assuming any "tactical" 1-4x scope would either have to go on low rings or a low mount. Are there any solid, reasonably priced options out there, preferably in QD?

I tried to write a post about a Polish made Mosin Nagant in "red rifles" and I was told that it was for SKS's only...and to go post in "mil-surp"...To which they promptly told me to go back to red rifles. Needless to say both posts got deleted and I never did get my question answered.
You won't hear any complaints from me.

There is some overlap, but if it's about a Mosin, I'd say Milsurp is the best place to post a question. If they deleted a post about a Mosin in the milsurp forum, I'd message the mod for that section and ask what he's smoking.

As for the T97 being a black or red rifle, I'd post it in the Black rifle section. Logic being "Red Rifles", to me, are Post WWII Warsaw pact and Yugo autoloaders.

With China being what's left of the Comblock (other than Cuba), I'd say that T97 fits every aspect of the official Red Rifles forum description :cool:

I'll do a comparison between that one and the CanAm one that's already on its way to my place (Clob was a little iffy about selling his mounts for a rifle that might not even hit our market - and I don't count it as "hit our market" until it makes it out to enough people who have the opportunity to sell it to that guy Mike, you know, the one in the Canmore area ;) ) and once T97's are here to stay, I'll get one from him. The rail is a non-issue.. I'm talking about a solid mount or rings that would attach to the 1913 rail.

im surprised both threads got deleted , the mosin shouldnt be deleted from milsurp, that mod was having an off-day. go post it again in milsurp.

and as for RR is only for SKS , nonsense , those guys are blind and cant see stickies of other models such as VZ52, VZ58 and T97.

Mosin is a bit of a crossover.. Threads on it are common here, too, but it was extensively used by comblock armies, so I'd figure it's one of those where you get your info where you think you'll get most relevant replies. Many of us own Mosins so RR is a good place to ask. On this forum we discuss other red rifles including AK's, Type 03's, etc etc etc and coming from Red China, it qualifies for this forum even if it shoots poodle pellets.. Hell, even the Soviets switched to their own back in the 70's

FWIW, I've decided to go with the Burris XTR rings based on the Optics Planet reviews and availability from Wolverine, which I've already dealt with and had a positive experience (negative experiences with CGN sponsors are few and far between and even rarer since a particular sponsor left). Waiting for an elcheapo chinese set to arrive just so I can test the fit based on the eye relief and to confirm that low isn't too low (don't want the objective section bumping the rail) and if it is, probably go with mediums.

the original concept is if its built under communist rule then its red so china is still communist so the T87 is red.

VZ58 was built when czech was communist so its red but the CZ805 was built after the fall of soviet bloc so its black .

i agree mosin is a crossover , its acceptable in both forums but more so in milsurp , like i said if a mod had a problem with the dupe placement of the threads then he shouldnt have deleted the one in milsurp.
