Check this out before you buy the new beavertail backstraps for your Glock Gen 4. Not really a problem but just not made for the older Gen 4's. Maybe a better idea would have been to mold the beavertail into the frame and call it a Gen 4.5. It looks like Glock is trying to play catch up with the M&P on the beavertail.

I don't know if you can say they're trying to play catch-up. They are simply offering their customers more options, if indeed it is Glock GmBH that is offering these. Some people that come from other platforms would prefer the beavertail, I personally find no need for it. And it's not fair to call M&P's a Glock copy. The Sigma series was the Glock copy. So much so, that S&W lost that lawsuit.

The new Glock Gen 4's now come with 4 back straps, 2 normal ones and 2 with the new beavertail. Glockparts and Glockstore have them on their website but both of them are sold out at the moment. They are made by Glock Inc.
 
Mine only came with the medium and large backstraps. If they really wanted to make us happy, they would include the factory extended slide stop with all their pistols. That's a far more useful addition.
 
My Glock 17 Gen 4 has the "bump" but my Glock 21 Gen 4 doesn't. Neither were supplied with the beavertail backstraps, but I've also never had a problem with slide bite and the last thing I want to do is make the grip on a Glock thicker. For my hands, the Gen 4 17/22 frame fits really well.
