OLD SCHOOOOL ... like back in the day when the RCMP had there shotguns mounted between the legs of the officer riding " shotgun " ... Looks very nice, Nice job !
...... David K... Not quite, but close! The front of the average RCMP Patrol Car, became very cramped in short order!....Mostly it was the 870 with the Rifle Sights,( Deer Hunter? ) with no magazine extension. Just the plug removed, giving five shots of SSG.... The early mounts were actually "keyed' ( and I've still got a set of discarded upper and lower parts, with the key ). And later versions were electrically "keyed"....... David K
How did that work? I take it was to allow the officer to get the shotgun quicker?
.... With, some perhaps notable exceptions, RCMP Officers are operating alone, and not every Cruiser had the luxury of a Shotgun. So, the idea of the electric release was a quantum jump forward, as it allowed one to unlock the shotgun, then simply, grab it and go. Far far, quicker than having to fumble for the key, then having to find the keyhole under stress! ....... David K

I had the opportunity to spend some time in a Mustang Interceptor and a Camaro Pursuit and I must say the airy and spacious accommodations were second to none, now if those cars were only a bit quicker.
...... If one were "creative", and with an NCO that was understanding, and good contacts, it was amazing what could be accomplished !...... David K
