It is non restricted, just so ya know.
I love the RPK look but would also like to convert one to more of a rifle. These 7.62x39 Valmets are so damn hard to come by tho.
I hear you - I know a guy who turned down a serious offer of $6K for the same rifle. It's got to be tempting though - an 18.5 barrel and some parts and wham! - you're the only guy in town with a bush legal Galil/R4/AK

can the barrel be cut down to normal ak length? would it go restricted or prohib ?

Like any other semi gun, the barrel can be cut down to 18 which would be restricted. Cut down to 18.5 would be non-restricted.
I'd do it to a Hunter well before an M78 though.
