1911 Grips

If the maker has an export licence, yes, otherwise no go.

I found this out when I tried to order a slim set of grips from Brownells. Even though Brownells has that export licence and the cost was under $100, the actual maker of the grips (the name escapes me at the moment) didn't have an export licence, and so the grips couldn't be sent outside the USA.

No they're good to order. My VZ 1911 grips just cleared canadian customs. Now I wait for canada post to do their thing..

people keep talking about buying grips from ebay, from a guy / seller from thailand. thailand is likely a good source of nice tropical woods, so for $30 to $50 a set, i'd look there. if i had a 1911 that had grips i hated, i'd be on ebay tonight.

I ordered a pair for the norinco deal i got from CanAmmo, still waiting for them.

Thanks guys, any suggestions on retailers? I'm looking for a set for my inbound Ruger SR1911.

Cheers,
Mitch

Classified as gun parts, definitely ITAR controlled.

Do you want wood, G10, or unicorn horn?

Sporteque had a bunch of VZ grips on their website, or order direct from VZ on ebay.ca or from their website in the USA. Brownells has a reasonable selection (some can't be shipped here). Sometimes you can find exactly the right pair of wood grips on HogueAuction (cosmetic seconds, etc.). Nicest wood grips around at Ahrends...
