I've been thinking about taking up skeet shooting and was thinking of a Mossberg 500 combo 18.5 and 28 barrels. Would this be a good starter skeet gun and also good for HD?

Any other suggestions?

The price seems right but having a hard time finding one in BC, I see Cabelas has them for $320 seems like a deal to me

Ive put well over 2000 rounds threw mine, still functions flawlessly, when I bought it it came with the short turkey barrel and the rifled slug barrel... Cant go wrong with the price!

If your looking @ mossber 500 combo

There is a combo at epps and I'm sure a few other sponsors sites, for mossberg 500 - 3 barrell combo in camo. 1 - 28" vented. 1 - 24" fully rifled. 1 - 24" smooth bore vented. That will cover you in every aspect. I think it retails for under $480

Thanks, I've seen that model its nice, more for deer hunting I think. I'm more interested in target loads and HD

The 3 barrell combo would have you covered for all aspects. same 28" vented - skeet\trap & upland game, just 24" vented - HD & turkey, & 24" rifled - HD, deer & bear, you may not be a hunter now but who knows what possibilites the future holds you'll have this gun for many years and eventually want to expand your skills, plus resale would be better for you if you had 3 barrels instead of 2, the 3rd choke is a bonus too or just sell the unneeded barrell for $$ you'll make bank. A suggestion for HD is a pistol grip, their fun plus it shaves more inches off total legnth. The gun is question is great and you'll be fine with either combo for what your looking for. stay safe and have fun.

the 3 barrell combo will cover what your looking for plus you get a rifled barrel if you ever do the deer thing. also for HD i reccomend a pistol grip, there fun. but with either combo you'll be fine mossberg 500 is a great reliable shotgun for all ocassions, you'll be happy with it

I've never heard about the three barrel, you don't know where I can get one do you?

ellwood epps - great store with good service. I'm sure there are other site sponsors who have them too they seem to be plentiful

I was looking at one of these in Canadian Tire, and I racked it a few times, and it was rough as guts. Do they loosen up after some rounds have been put through them or was it that particular gun?

I have a 535 3-barrel combo. Other than it being very light and kicking the #### out of me, I like it. The 500 combo would be much more 'user friendly'.

I've got the 2-barrel combo (18.5" and 28") and I love it. Shortly barrel rocks for putting holes in things. The 28" is my backup for fowling. Great gun.

I would imagine any gun shop that sells Mossberg will have them or can order them. I bought a Mossberg 500 combo (12g) with 3 barrels last year from my local shop (Gobles, London, On.) It's not a huge store but, well stocked. They also had 20 gauge in stock at the time. They had a sale on. Check out the Mossberg website. Google it.

Ellwood Epps, as someone here mentioned, will likely carry it. You could look at the 535 combo as well. I think it has the pistol grip on the butt stock.

Someone out there will likely carry the line. Make some phone calls before you waste the gas. :)
