I have a post WWII, 1960's commercial mfg receiver, completed with USGI parts, .30 cal M1 carbine, with restricted length barrel. It has the adjustable rear iron site. I also have a scope mount for it that replaces that rear site & mounts a Weaver style rail so that 1" Weaver style scope rings can be attached. I have test fired this rifle with irons & was pleased with "off hand" accuracy out to 25 yards.
I am also in the process to taking possession of a 'real deal' 1943 mfg USGI M1 carbine.
I am thinking about scoping the 1960's commercial M1 carbine once I take possession of the USGI model. Of course the USGI model will remain untouched!
Interested in commentary from other CGN'ers who have scoped M1 carbines.... scope types used etc. I was thinking of going with something like a vintage Weaver K3 [fixed 3 power], as I already have one on hand. Was thinking that my shooting would be 50 - 75 yards if I was to scope this M1. And this M1 being restricted it would be for target use only, on my local range [is 100 yards max for rifle there].
I've already acquired dies, etc to reload for the M1 carbine so ammo isn't going to be an issue, either.
