My goal is to try to get a 140 TSX to approach 3500 with a 26" pipe. I know the RUM was better suited to heavier stuff, but this has been done with powders like A8700 before they nix'd it. I hear good things about RL25, but I'd like to here if anyone's had success pushing the 140's to 3500. This rifle will not likely see frigid temps, but could see as cool as +5 degrees. Thoughts?

140grs at 3500fps out of the 7mmRUM is easy to accomplish. My own rifle produced around 3575 with good brass life. H-1000, and R-25 worked well in my rifle.

Most likely the same powders that work in the STW, H-1000, R25, H50BMG (better with heavier pills) , the late H870, and IIRC 7828? Not near my data right now...

I guess when I get some RL 25 I'll put 95 grs of it under the 140 tsx and see how it does

I use RL 25 in my 7 ultra behind 160 gn Accubonds and have reached over 3500 fps with these, getting 3500 with 140s should be a snap. Mine loves RL 25 as does my 257 Wby, excellent accuracy and stupendous velocities. The biggest problem with RL 25 is trying to find it these days.
