What holster would you recommend for a P226?

I recently picked up a P226 Classic and now I'm looking for a holster. A guy I know is a cop and has a Safariland holster that is quite nice. There are however a ton of different models on the Safariland website. Any other brands that I should consider? More importantly, what is available in Canada?

Solely Canadian makes great kydex stuff, right here in Canada, other than that get a Raven, if you're looking for something real quick that'll get you through, Bladetech is OK. There's no restriction on bringing holsters in from the US. Also, take a look at the Raven moduloader system for mag pouches, it gets around the whole specialized mag pouch thing.

there's gonna be a lot of hate, but - since this is range use only - i tend to like Fobus paddle holsters. they're affordable, simple, work very well for me, quick to put on (and a PITA to remove *without being an idiot and ripping it off as if trying to break it or steal the gun*), and for my hands at least the cant (angle) as well as height is basically perfect.

but they're cheap ($35 max), so people love to hate them.

"other than that get a Raven"

I also like my Raven, however you'll be waiting for about 4 months. I don't believe you can order the Sig holsters as quick ship items. But definitely was worth the wait for me.

+1 on S.C.... Tim makes great products, easily on par with other big name kydex holster companies, however, his prices are better, and his time frames are ABSOLUTELY incredible in comparison to those "big name companies".

He did a custom order for one of my Glocks and had it shipped out by the end of the week, along with a double mag pouch. Great guy and you can guarantee he will be getting my repeat business.

I use a Blackhawk - excellent holster.

i have one, but can't say i like it much (mind you this is Glock stuff). i found it to be just somehow weird in the draw and reholstering. the fobus has a nicer cut on the front for easier & faster clearing during the draw. on the blackhawk i noticed that i had to have two distinct motions - one UP to release the firearm, and another one FORWARD to bring it to position. with a fobus, i found the up/forward motions to be more continuous and smoother.

but alas - this is range play ONLY.

If you're rotating the gun before its at chest level you're wasting time. Draw the gun straight up, pivot the gun down range then press it out. Sweeping the muzzle up into your line of sight is known as bowling and its grossly inefficient.

I'm old school, rocking the Tagua Gunleather. Fits my P226 and my Walther PPQ so that's an added bonus. I wanted some versatility, which is why I didn't go with a kydex model.
