First of all, calm down.....Second, I'm not your buddy.....

Third, this explains it, the head stamp on all of the problem ammo has been C J 93

Also as I said, those pictures were from 3 different 1in7" twist rifles, or varying length barrels. So, while you have not experienced issues, others have, and to deny it makes no sense.

Really the reports from users are ALL OVER THE PLACE, some 1in7 users report no issues, others see this key holing. Basically it's user beware, that's all I'm saying.

I stand corrected, I've got four crates of yellow box that are not bimetal, one crate of yellow box that is, and one crate of the spam can stuff that was also bimetal.
I'm a bit confused...
I built a completely new upper to use with the norinco, as I presumed that all the norinco 223 was bimetal, lol !
 
I've shot about 1000rds of CJ95 through my 1/7" twist sig516 with no key holes yet. Next time I head to the range I'm going to try the crate of CJ93 I have and see if it key holes.

Excellent plan, I have yet to come across any of the CJ95 stuff, but it seems it's only the CJ93 that is key holing like this. If the CJ93 Keyholes, please pull some rounds and have them measured with a caliper if possible, and post your results.
 
I happen to like being tacticool and playing soldier..... I have plenty of c j 93 and 95 with no issues in 1/7. My new sbr is what I'm worried about. Why the hell can't we get 62gr ammo cheap and plentiful? Even before the USA frenzy

Interesting.....A lot of weird stuff with this Norinco ammo.

I remember a thread recently where a guy tried to shoot a box of Norc 7.62 NATO at the Calgary shooting center, or maybe the Edge (can't remember which) and it turned out the entire case was Armour Piercing Incendiary ammo.

I heard about that as well. I'd love it if I got a crate of that by mistake. Just put that away in the just in case pile ;)
I split a case of that stuff with a buddy but haven't shot any of it yet, maybe I'll get lucky :D

From what I got out of the read from the link I shared I would be much more worried about shooting bi-metal jacketed rounds down my barrel than the odd undersized one with copper jacketing. The bi-metal wore out the brand new barrel of the Bushmaster in less than 8000 rounds while the barrel shooting copper jacketed stuff still had lots of life left.
I'll gladly pay a few dollars more for my 1000 round cases so I know I'm not destroying my barrels.

And play nice 351, I snicker at the GI Joes at the range all dressed up with their plate carriers and battle gear as well, especially when they come dressed like that and pull out their tacticool SKS but for the guys that do 3 gun and other shooting sports it makes sense to practice in the gear your gonna compete in. Would it make sense for them to practice with an 858 and then compete with an AR? Same goes for the clothing. Or would you practice for a race in a Chev then race a Ford? Everyone in entitled to do what they want and we should respect that and let them without ridicule. Would be a pretty boring place to be if everyone was the same.
 
I have CJ93 and, while I have only shot about 200 rounds total, I have yet to see any keyholes. No problems with 1/7 NR Swiss Arms, two 16 inch 1/7 Colt uppers, and a 14.5 Norinco (not sure of the twist). Will keep an eye out in the future.

I don't know how much distance is needed but 5 yards sounds awfully close. The bullet would have to come out of the muzzle sideways to see keyholing at that distance.
It sounds like the undersized projectile problem was only in a few batches and not consistent across the board for all of them with a certain headstamp. You may have gotten lucky and just got good crates.
The magnet test will be the one to do so you know if your are wearing your barrel faster than normal. I think undersized bullets would mostly just cause poor accuracy.
