10/22 aftermarket bolt

fab sports carries Kid ones, they are suppose to be best aftermarket ones out there from what i hear.

Mil-Arm in Edmonton carries VQ which is what ive used in one gun and they are good.

those are the only 2 after market ones ive seen up here in Canada.

i know there are other companies out there that make them and you can see them all over the US but these are the only ones ive ever seen up here.
and rarely too boot!

Go with a VQ or Kidd... Or you can send a factory bolt to "Que" over at RFC... He has done half a dozen for me and they function as good as any in the factory receiver... If you are using an aftermarket receiver (Dlask, Kidd, VQ or TS) then get the Kidd or VQ bolt.

What's the advantage of an aftermarket bolt vs a polished/sanded stock bolt

Kidd and VQ bolts are made to a tighter spec (slightly oversized)... If you get a factory bolt worked on, they can only remove material, thus reducing overall size. Most aftermarket receiver makers size their receivers for a tight tolerance aftermarket bolt, to get the least play possible... given the tolerances involved, I have seen a particularly tight receiver not be able to house a particularly oversized bolt, requiring work on one or the other and sometimes both. The Ruger factory receiver is intentionally made to sloppy tolerances, this is to allow it to function when dirty (most owners don't clean their guns) and also to function with a wider range of ammo... this is coupled with the Ruger OEM Sporter chamber which is also very oversized compared to most aftermarket chambers... such as Bentz and Bentz Match chambers... some companies give their own name to a particular chamber which they hace spec'ed their own reamers for (Dlask Xtreme, for example).

Thanks guys just ordered a Kidd bolt from Fab Sports. Should go nice with my Volq trigger and green mountain barrel. I have a bit of barrel sag atm so I'll probly have to get a decent receiver this fall.

Barrel "sag" is usually an optical illusion... shoot the gun before you do anything... I have seen a number of barrels that were called "saggers" by their owners prove to be very accurate... if the gun does not shoot try pillar bedding and using the "tried and true" pressure pad method... this will usually solve your problems... you don't mention what stock you are using, but if it is an OEM stock, get rid of the barrel band before you do anything else... accuracy should improve immediately.

It shoots fine it just shoots low. It's a common problem with heavy bull barrels and the factory receiver. I have a pressure pad in my hogue stock all ready.

i picked up a Kid 2 stage from Fab Sports last week.
ive been watching Fab and Jo Brooks for a while now as they are the only 2 international suppliers for Kidd in canada.
and Fab got stock in last week..

i just checked, they are not showing any stock in right now, so they sold out in only a couple days.

and jo brooks is showing no stock either at present.

oh, but fab is showing kid barrels in stock.

I have done dozens of build's... And "heavy barrels shooting low" is not a common problem... Again, barrel sag is NoT a common problem, it is a condition that gets a lot of online chat, and causes new builders to "fret." Go over to RFC, where there are thousands of builds represented and you will find that the heavy/low syndrome is not common, anymore so than lightweight/low or standard/low or shorty/low...but is likely unique to your (?) situation.
