New to LRS -6.5 creedmoor vs 260?

I figured you probably couldn't be swayed once you had that in your head. You're on the road now! Remember how you were calling me anal when you were watching me load my ammunition? Yeah, well.......:HR: Enjoy bud!

if i remember right, you called yourself anal as much as i did!! lol. hopefully once everything gets here we will get a couple of good days at the farm while the weather is nice(not -20). What are your thoughts on that sightron scope?

Blackbeard, I had the same dilemma as you but I went the other way.

All the parts are with the smith, just waiting on that all important phone call... :runaway:

To be honest the deciding factor was the availability of Lapua brass.

I like the 260rem as well, but either case will push the 139's fast enough for the lower node, 2720-2730fps in my rifle, although I wouldn't want any less case capacity.

My Lap Scenar 139's are coming out of my 20" barrel at around 2726 fps give or take. Just finished shooting a PR match at Base Borden on 19 May. Great fun at 700 and 800 yards. :D

Cheers,

Oh man this thread has me jazzed!! I just bought a new Savage 12 LRP in 6.5 Creedmoor myself and took it to the range first time tonight. I didn't have a whole lot of cash so a Vortex 6.5-20X30mm was all I could put on it for now. Also I haven't been able to find brass but I got a Redding Competition Bushing Neck Die set from Brownells. They have lots in stock so try there. Just have to wait a bit for them. Anyway, I bought 40 rounds of Superformance SST's and at 100yards I had a 3 round one shot hole in no time. Going to step back to 200 and 300 and 400 with the last 20 rounds I have left tomorrow or Monday. I used to have a 12 LE in .308 before but this rifle really seems to shoot better

What seems to be the consensus for bullet weights? My surfing seems to suggest the 120 to 129 grn bullets are preferred. Yes/No? Minniehill, mind telling what you were shooting?

Man, you guys are getting me all pumped. I am just about to move something on the EE and then running to look for a .260 as well. I also have my eye on the Savage 12 LRP in .260. If it shoots as good as my 10 FCP-K (which is now in 300wsm) I will be pumped.

I would say the preferred pills are anywhere from 139gr through 142gr, with the 123gr Scenars coming in a close 2nd.
Just my .02
