powder suggestion for 40 smith and wesson

Hodg Longshot

high velocity with low pressure to keep a Glock from going kaboom.

ive always used tight group or HS6. I like HS-6 because its what i load buckshot with, tightgroup is good cause I use it in 9mm too. less tightgroup than HS-6 per round

I don't think you can beat Longshot if you want the best BANG for your buck - awesome muzzle velocity and fireballs. 7.5 gr with 180gr Berries got me around 1130fps. I switched to Power Pistol now, it's more tame which is nice. Got a pound of WSF to try some day as well. 7.2gr PP with 165gr AIM got me around 1100fps.

Stick with the basic well-known, available and classic powders that most started out with. WW231 would not be my first choice but it works. Alliant's Bullseye works terrific and so does Alliant's RedDot. Accuracy can be very good with the 40S&W round. My first and last choice is a RandRBullets.com [Magma engineering] cast lead 155grain SWC behind 3.8grains of Alliant's PROMO powder.

hmm, i'm torn. I want to rake you over the coals for rejecting advances and sticking to "classic" old powders that haven't been improved upon. I've tried some of those "traditional" powders and they are dirty and create way too much smoke esp when shooting indoors. they may be well-understood, but there's new stuff out there to try that might be better.

but then, I get my lead from rick @ R&R as well.... so I gotta give you kudos for that.

Have you noticed your ejected brass is pretty dirty inside and out?
