Wow that's almost identical to mine except yours looks to be in nicer shape. Mine shoots bang on with factory ammo, or reloads at 100m. I've been shooting cast bullets through mine and even those are only 2" low at 100m. I'm not sure why I didn't get a Mosin sooner as I really have grown fond of shooting mine over the last month or so I've had it.

I own a couple of different Mosins myself but this is by far the best quality! The trigger is sweet and as well when you pull it, unlike my other Mosins, the bolt doesn't move at all! The other ones I have, when you pull the trigger you can see the bolt move upwards a little...
My Dad owned this rifle before me and when he passed left it to me along with some other nice military rifles. He stained it but the stain was actually like paint! When I got it my neighbour helped me strip it properly and I rubbed it up with boiled linseed oil and this is what I have now. Something I reall do want to show you though and maybe someone could pipe in and let me know what happened here? Ran out of wood? LoL!

well they dont always have solid wood in the lengths they need, so they finger joint them together when theyve got 2 pieces too short, it is a military arm after all, they dont go for aesthetics ;p

Nice rifle! SA actually stands for Suomen Armeija, and was the property stamp of the regular army. Civil Guard weapons would only have gotten that stamp when they were turned over to the army, which I understand would have been after the Guard was disbanded under the terms of the peace treaty with the Soviets in 1944. FWIW my M/24 isn't SA marked either.

If $300 for that rifle iis a steal, how come it sat on a vendors table for a full weekend gun show and didn't sell?

In regards to the last 2 posts, funny thing is that I just got mine for 1/2 of that. On the surface my Finn Mosin looked like a normal hex reciever gun. But I picked it up and knowticed the SA stamp, I knew it was something a little more special.

The vendor basically twisted my arm to buy it, so of course I couldn't say no.

Also from my research, most Finn mosins should be marked with SA on one side of the reciever. On the other side will usually be a S which denotes that it was a civil gaurd rifle or SS like mine has which means it was an army rifle which was loaned to the civil gaurd.

Upon further research it seems that around 10% of Finn mosins aren't SA marked making this one quite rare.

As for the finger joints, mine has those to. I actually picked it based on the 2 piece stock as I though it was neat.

Mine doesn't have the nice Finn trigger though, it's pretty rough and has about a 15lb pull and about an 1" of takeup. I may have to do a little work to it.

Good to see that there's many people on this forum who appreciate the higher end mosins and not just the typical $179 Russian refurbs.

They didn't run out of wood, that was common practice for the Finns to make two peice stocks. It helped stop the stocks from warping to much wich helped them stay as accurate as posible in wet environments.
