Over a year ago I bought a model 1889 schmidt rubin that was manufactured in 1892. I had never seen one in a gun shop on the Island before, it had a nice williams peep and other then the sporterized stock it was in amazing shape for being over 100 years old. On Saturday I was a a local gun shop and picked up some prvi 7.5x55, tonight after over a year of waiting I finally made up one single round (all I had time to make before the sun was completely down). I pulled the bullet emptied the powder replaced it with 11.3grains of unique put the bullet back in and took a drive down the road. All I can say is after all this time I wish I could have made more rounds before sundown cause shooting it sure was pleasing. Tomorrow after work I'm definitely making more rounds up and I'll do a range report, thinking I might have to get a K31 or a model 1911 next :D.

The 1889 is a great rifle, but be careful on the ammo you are using because they have a weak locking lug mecanism. They were made to fire the GP90 ammo.

Ya that's why I used the unique, they say at around 11 grains it will give about 1800 fps and is safe for the rifle it's apparently similar to a krag in the loads it will take.
