Polish Tokarev T-33 all cleaned up and ready to go

Well finally received my never issued Polish TT-33. Used boiling water to clean off the cosmoline, then used Autosol metal polish to brighten up the finish removing minor marks. Polished the barrel and feed ramp and finally used Froglube for its first real cleaning. Worked great and after the autosol added that final shine I was hoping to get. Anyway its my first Tokarev and I'm quite impressed with the design and function. Stripping it apart was easy although getting the slide lock clip back on without marking the pistol was a bit of a challenge, needed a second set of hands.

Looking forward to taking it out to the range once it stops raining here.

Its a replacement floor plate, make the grip more comfortable since it extends down. Also makes pulling mags that stick easier to grasp. Theres no extra round capability.

As far as the slide stop issue goes, take your right hand and make "gun" with your index finger and thumb, put your index finger though the trigger guard and your thumb over the spring catch bellow the muzzle, you can now use your thumb and index finger to move the slide back and forth to line up the slide stop catch attached to the barrel and your left hand to put the slide stop back in. Ta Daaa and easy way to put it back together without scratching the gun :D

Thanks for advise, the trouble was the retaining clip that snaps onto the slide stop once installed. I took it off to polish and it was a real pain to get back on the pistol frame.

I'm holding off talking about where I bought it as, the first gun they sent looked like it had been rusted and cleaned up after the fact, perhaps in Poland. Taken a month to straighten things out and there is still another rather serious matter I need to hear back on. Their working with me to fix things so I'm not slamming them, but I don' t yet feel I can recommend buying from them either. If all works out I'll be good with it. I have pictures of the first gun that were terrible, frustrating thing was when I bought I asked the employee to hand pick me a good one and if they could not do so to just level with me. Anyway thats the risk you take buying mail order. No big deal if this is finally worked out. I have had other dealing with the busness that went just fine.

Something as simple as a 3" long chunk of 3/8's dowel and a small (very small!) hammer will get that clip on easily. Have the pistol facing to your right, put your right hand pinky in the middle of the clip to hold it, and the dowel at an angle on the left side of the clip. Tap and done, no scratches.

I bought 3 from P&D and they are just great!
I sold 1to a friend and kept 2.We split a case of surplus ammo and they can shoot the bullseye out at 20 yards,amazing!!
Taking this 1950 dated Tok to use in next weeks Bullseye competition.The guys are going to think I am Nutz!My SIG 210 is going to feel slighted,ahaha!

Lightly polishing with Autosol metal polish brought out a better finish and did not scrub any spots clean of the bluing. I have used this on stainless guns in the past to make them shine; it was a bit of an experiment on a blued firearm. As they are so affordable had I messed it up it would have been a reason to buy another. Just go slow until you get the desired effect or you could remove too much bluing. The Froglube then added higher luster to the finish. I have heard of people using a wax product to get the same effect. I doubt wax would be a as durable and might not react well when the pistol heats up or with solvent. The polish also does a great job on polishing the feed ramp of any barrel but I used a dremel for that task as it takes a lot more polishing.
