The Outty Or Outtyless, That Is The Question ???

Im wondering if anybody can shine some light on this, Ive seen CZ's with the little bit sticking out and some without, same goes for the Beretta PX 4 Storm, and other Berettas and were not threaded, just a little outty palying peekaboo. Heckler & Koch USP also. And countless others (SIG,M&P,etc) I can see the Pros and Cons of having a threaded barrel(silencer) and/or having a barrel quarter of an inch or so longer, but it doesn't do it for me, cosmetic wise. When im looking at the picture on a website and looking at a pistol to buy, for some reason I'm always phoning or emailing the dealer to make sure there's no suprise at the end sticking out. Has anyone ever get a suprise that they did not expect when purchasing a new pistol?

No i have never been suprised by the extended barrel. You gotta know what your buying (ie... Sig P229, or glock 19 would both be a prohib) if it wasnt for the little bit extra barrel length.

So to make it clear, the little bit sticking out is added to a barrel, to make it 105mm or longer, which otherwise would be a prohibited pistol?

Yes, if the barrel pokes out a bit past the slide, and isn't threaded, generally it's going to be on a 101mm (or 4") pistol that is legal in other nations, but must be over 105mm in the True North Strong and Free.

Threaded pokey barrels can be found on any length pistol, not just otherwise Prohibited ones.

+1

The only advantage of the slightly longer barrel is slightly higher muzzle velocity, which is negligible, frankly. The major practical disadvantage (IMO) is that many holsters will not fit the pistols with extended barrels.

I ordered a CZ 75 P07 Duty the other day, the picture on the website shows a flush muzzle, just hope its not a poky thing sticking out. Anybody have the same pistol bought in Canada without the longer barrel, im pretty sure they would have it in the description wouldn't they?

The barrel won't be flush, I had a P07 duty, great gun though. If it was flush, it would be a prohib and not for sale up here. Guaranteed it will stick out the end...

It will look like this http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?917429-CZ-Duty-Sale!!

Sorry amigo, then the website photo was inaccurate. If it's sold as a restricted pistol, then it has an outtie.

Yes, they should put that in the description. If that's a dealbreaker for you, I'd say that should easily be grounds for cancelling the transaction.

But honestly, the P-07 is a great pistol even with the extended barrel.

You know what it is a great pistol, I love the look of the gun, I think the extended barrel will grow on me, once I start shooting it. Stupid 105mm law. What is the reasoning behind that? What's wrong with a 95mm barrel?
