Haters: Please don't troll this thread.

I purchased my NEA 10.5" CQB back in November of last year, but since I don’t currently have LTATT, I’ve had to put it on hold for a while. I applied and got a STATT by the Ontario CFO on friday and went up north on the weekend for some shooting.

This rifle was ROCK SOLID. 480 rounds over a day and half and not one single problem. I tossed Norc 55gr ball ammo (which makes a massive fireball out of this rifle), winchester 62gr fmj, Hornady zombie 55gr and AE tactical 55gr. All ammo was shot on a single LAR mag (Orange follower - purchased from Canadaammo). I did 5 round and 10 round shot intervals, did a few " rapid fire " and few double shot stints too. Following the break in procedure was a PITA especially while on the range in the blazing sun, but I followed it to the letter and I’m satisfied with the results. Only drawback I found was the trigger felt a bit heavy, but I'm sure in time will get better.

Only mods done to this were the Umbrella Corp grip (purchased from OST -HIGHLY recommended!!! ) and a Tapco stubby fore grip (purchased from Canadaammo) and a crappy set of BUIS that I couldnt adjust as I lost the allen key.

Here she is after a mid-afternoon break.

I know some users hate this company and havent had good experiences, but for me, this rifle was perfect all weekend long. I have another trip planned in late august / early september at which time I plan to put 900-1300 rounds and give it a really good wallop. I will tear it down tonight and take a look everything and post pictures, but so far it’s great.

This is the longest distance range I belong to in ontario and don't plan to go anywhere else with it. Does anyone have any recommendation for sights / red dots for this type of rifle at a maximum of 100 yards?

Congrats! The 10.5 is a fantastic rifle. Mine is currently on the EE (for financial reasons only) but I loved it. Great handling, reliable, accurate, and looks positively bad ass. I used PMC XTAC 55gr with zero issues.

Regarding optics, I used an EOTECH EXPS-2 with mine and it was great.

Good to hear about the flawless range report. Just out of curiosity, under what circumstances did the CFO issue you a STATT? Some kind of invitation involved?

You got it. The girl at the CFO office was extremely helpful too. She simply mentioned the club needed to send an email or fax inviting me and include the following information
1)Name
2)PAL #
3)Date(s)

I asked the club president to send said letter so he sent an email (from his hotmail account) thursday night at 4:30pm, friday morning around 9:30am I had the STATT emailed and printed.

Another funny point about this att non-sense, I asked the club preisdent if the CFO called them to verify any information, he said "nope " The email had the requirments they asked for , his name, club title and telephone number.

I hear you on the heavy trigger. I did a spring change and ever so slightly filled down the sear engagements and polished them trigger is perfrct now. I will mention tho that the disconnector spring on mine became to light and I was getting doublefires. Id pull the trigger round would go off andwhen I let the trigger go instead of a small clunk/click. .. bang! ! I just removed the springandpulled it apart and it did the trick. Not sure how long that'll last but I have new springs on the way.

Good to know, thanks!

I'm considering an aftermarket trigger but the manual stated it should lighten with more use, so I'll give it a few more range trips before changing it.

While this isn't my first time shooting or handling an ar, not sure how comfortable I am with attempting this - thanks for the input though.

Well not to keep riding the horse here, the polishing isn't goin to remove and material unless you use an abbrasive polish compound. I use a stainless steel polisher on my trigger and it just buffs them.

FMP, that is a long time to wait to shoot your rifle! Glad to hear it worked well for you.

I wouldn't mess with trying to modify the stock trigger...I'd just replace it. People spend so much $ dressing up their ARs with things that do little to enhance performance (and in some cases probably impair it) when a decent trigger will improve their shooting more than just about any upgrade.

No kidding. Ive got a kid and zero spare time. I only get a chance to shoot every 3-4 months so not a terribly big deal.

What type of trigger would you recommend replacing it with? Brand? Source?

Geissele from Arms East...buy once, cry once :) . They aren't cheap but they are awesome.

Ouch, you weren't kidding. I dont mind paying to play but there are so many different kinds, which one would be beneficial to a slightly novice AR shooter ? Eventually, 3 gun is in my future (not sure if that matters) I just want a nice crisp clean break/pull.

I shoot on a weekend every 3-4 months and I imagine ill go through at least 5-900 rounds, I wonder if perhaps I should continue to try using the stock one for now? I've got 5 snap caps, I could work on it every other night.

I just shot about 80rds...ran a bore snake thru...shot another 100rds...works...broken in...done.
its a 10.5" barrel....I doubt I will be entering any 300-500 yard competitions with it. I just require it to be reliable. my is working 100%.

Geissele makes two 3-gun specific triggers that I know of, the S3G and the SD-3. There are a lot of great triggers out there for less money and they will all be a noticeable improvement over the triggers NEA was using 10 months ago. I decided to bite the bullet and put the S3G in mine because I knew I wanted to upgrade the trigger, I knew I wanted to shoot 3-gun with it, and I knew if I bought a lessor trigger I'd always be wondering just how much better the S3G was :). Geissele is one of the top AR trigger manufacturers out there so I took the "buy once, cry once" advice that was given to me and that I'm passing on to you.
Geissele is also behind the ALG Combat Triggers that are a lot less money - I've never tried them so perhaps someone who has one can chime in.

I appreciate the advice!! I guess I'll give the S3G one a go unless others have any other feedback?

Anyone? Bueller?? Buelleeeeer?
