I don't have one, nor want one. You can argue until the end of times but the fact is the trigger pull will go under 5# at some point. You can think S&W USA do not know about the guns they make and that you know better... I don't know, but the fact is the same, if the guy wants to shoot IPSC, he will be better serve with another gun than an M&P Pro because of all the hassle that comes with the trigger pull issue.
I didn't say anything of the sort - there goes that reading issue of yours again - I said that they won't sell them to your buddy. The M&P Pro is sold in Mass, the law in Mass states quite clearly that pistols must have an 8lb trigger, no less. Take a look at an M&P schematic, one part number for those parts in 9+40+357, no part numbers beyond the slide, front sight and barrel for the Pro. Additionally, some judicious work on the sear trip portion of the trigger bar will both increase pull weight and shorten the break. God, this is like talking to a liberal; no clue, but still pushing.
M & P 9mm with Range Kit. Best value for money and you get everything to start. Changeable backstraps to fit your hands.. Great value.
Alright, as the title suggests, it's time to put my new RPAL to work. I've been looking around locally, and I think I've got my picks for final contenders.
I'm after a 9mm, full size gun (big guy, big hands), for general plinking/target work. I may get into IPSC and such later on, we'll see. Max budget is ~$1000, preferably less.
So, I'm looking at 3 guns, mainly:
CZ 75 BD, pre-owned but in great shape at Cabela's Gun Library. M&P 9, new. Or a Beretta 92A1, also new.
I've heard good things about all three, and they all feel good in my giant mitts (the Beretta fits me slightly better, but not much difference really). Overall I really like all three guns, and the prices are close enough to not make any huge difference.
So what do you guys say? Any clear favorites? Should I avoid any of them? Anything at all to put one or another ahead of the pack? Any other options out there I should be considering aside from these locally available ones?
If they're all equal, I think the CZ wins on price alone, but it's a really close call. What do you guys think?
Whichever one points better. Close your eyes and point the pistol at the target then open your eyes. Buy whichever points the closest, as its the one you'll shoot the most accurately. My vote is cz hands down, the slide glides inside the rail making it the most accurate , mind you you have to be a heckuva shooter to appreciate that type of accuracy in a pistol
