I've been into the sport and reloading for a little over a year. I reload for my S&W M&P 9mm .... but I'm going to start reloading in 45ACP. (CanadaAmmo Norinco deal!)

Anyway, I've been checking around for a spare turret and maybe a factory crimp die and there seems to be nothing available for Lee presses. (Already have the 3 die 45 set)

Have they gone out of business? Do they only do equipment manufacturing runs for a short time in a year? Or is it still being attributed to the buying frenzy south of the border?

Just wondering when and if there will be any Lee parts available.

Not to many distributers up here, try higginson, best bet.

Lee has excellent service. Sent them an email of my problem, didn't hear back from them but got a new free part in the mail a week latter

Higginsons is out .... checking with Budget now
Brownells, Midway, Cabelas (us and canada) all are out of much Lee stock.

Just wondering about the shortage in general.

you can buy semi-directly from lee. the site is something along the lines of fsreloading or whatnot. use google. buy "direct". 100% legal and not ITAR controlled. shipping is gonna be $35 so buy for future use too, and maybe spare parts etc. that's what i'm gonna be doing in the next few weeks anyways...

Yup .... out of stock at FSReloading too!

add it to your cart, order it, and it'll get pushed to backorder and as soon as parts are back in stock it all gets sent out to you. i'm guessing that's the fastest way to get the parts you need.

and now that i read your initial post again, you already have all the parts you need. not having the factory crimp die is a non-issue - it's not needed. also not having a spare turret is a non-issue - just screw the dies into the one turret you do have, and start loading. your dies have nuts on them which should keep your setting very very very close to what it was at last time.

FSReloading uses UPS. On top of the crazy shipping rate UPS will charge you an unholy rate at your door for border charges. As soon as it ships, get the Manifest and Trackin # from fsreloading

What you need:
Waybill Number (on the UPS notice)
Copy of invoice. I just had a printout of the 'ebay' invoice email. (Manifest)
Driver's license, you have do to this in person.
They will ask what it is and the country of origin if you know - (Lee is USA made =).
Credit/Debit card or cash for the GST on the item.

Where to go:
Canada Border Services Agency Offices Courier Low Value Shipments Program The Calgary office is easy to get to, Barlow and 32nd Ave NE.

What you Get:
A Casual Goods Accounting Document, showing you paid customs.

Present this when you either receive or pick up your package and they cannot charge you anything, regardless if they ask or demand. They do NOT prepay your customs. It is illegal for them to withhold your package after presenting them the CGA document.

Your customs bill should be $0. For non US manufactured items its just the tax in your province+ gst, or HST. Usually the bastards at UPS charge the Tax plus double for the "brokerage" fee. Its BS. Ive done this twice now with great results when a seller shipped via UPS. It has to be done BEFOREHAND though. You can dispute it after the fact, but you wont be able to recover the brokerage, just the tax for Lee items. My bills would have been $55 and $72 otherwise from UPS shipping reloading components.

Budget shooter supply has spare turrets. On the main page, sort for Lee products and down near the bottom he has both 3 and 4 hole turrets.

Yup, "buying frenzy south of the border"

I put an order in to Budget ... seems to have gone through!

I also emailed Lee and asked what was up .... here's there response

At this time due to unprecedented demand, many of our popular products are out of stock as recent proposed gun control legislation has driven sales to a crescendo. We are currently 16 weeks behind in product production. We strongly suggest contacting a distributor for product availability, we are shipping to them daily and they are going to be first to have products in stock. Many of them allow you to place a backorder or allow you to "notify me" when the product comes back in stock.

Wow .... 16 weeks behind!

Good news is for warranty replacement Lee had next day turnaround. Send in an out of spec .44 mold, they got it in ~4 bus. days, send back, had it within a week so less than 2 weeks total.

Yeah finding Lee stuff is like finding a Hens teeth. A little store in Alberta called Bashaw sports has a pretty good selection. Other than that my first recommendation is Ebay. That's the only place I was able to find quick change bushings (Bashaw was sold out)

Ebay! I bought a lot of lee stuff there. Die sets and a ton of spare parts for my lee presses. Just watch out how much the seller
is charging for shipping.

cheers
