Ok so here's how i mounted my g33 and my xps3-2 on my cz 858.

they're far apart and the g33 is a bit higher, but it still works from what I can tell from looking through it.
I was thinking of sighing the xps3-2 at 50 yards and the g33 at 100 yards.

My question is, is there something really wrong with this setup that I really shouldn't be doing. I was browsing online and all the setups with xps3 and g33 are really close together, but there was nothing specifically mentioned that you can't have them distanced off.

Hey there,

In terms of constructive criticism, I would offer the following.
a) The rifle looks a little too "busy" for my liking. Specifically with regards to hand placement, I don't see where you can comfortably place your support hand in that current configuration. I would suggest ditching the (admittedly very nice Atlas) bipod, as the 7,62x39 CZ/VZ isn't ideal in the precision role, especially with only 3X magnification.
b) Cheek weld, or in this case chin weld, seems a little too high. Can be alleviated with either an inline stock (which could compromise use of iron sights) or a lower mount for the optic and/or magnifier.
c) Speaking of mounts, the plastic FAB railed handguard you have is not ideal for holding zero with optics. A much better option would be an NEA Railed Upper Handguard. It's metal, solid and the lowest of any such mount available for the CZ/VZ platform.

I hope that helps.

Or a railed dustcover fron corwin arms might drop the 3x mag down abit.

How do they line up, close???? Is the magnifier to high?

Surprisingly, actually I see about 80% of the eotech window. I'm not a fan of the dust cover since I wanted something screwed down to a part of the rifle that wasn't movable. But then the eotech is on the fab defense part of the piston that does move so I'm not sure if I'll keep this configuration if I have problems holding zero. I might ditch the g33 and put it back onto another rifle that has a hws 512 eotech and just mount the xps3 onto where the g33 is now and go without magnification.

I'd really like something with magnification on this rifle since without I can't hit 100 yards, my eyes just aren't that good. I'm taking it to Burke mountain tomorrow morning to test it out at the range, I'll know after 100 rounds if it can stick to zero.

Yah the atlas is a bit much I agree probably will go on another rifle that i'm planning to get later this autumn.

I didn't know about the fab defense handguard having problems. #### I guess that kinda rules out the magnifier in that position then since I'll have to move the eotech to where the mag is to get it off the handgard.

So I think i found the solution to my problem with the eotech out in front. I have an older bushnell trs red dot, that I placed right in front of the g33, and it fits really perfectly there, just snug enough not to catch any ejected brass too. I know its not as great as my eotech xps3 but I really want some good quality glass in front of it so that I can shoot more than 50 yards.

I put my xps3 on my just right carbine with an older g23 magnifier.

Now I don't know what to do with my hws 512, but I'll probably buy an ar15 .223 some sort of variant soon so that'll solve that problem.

So here's a picture of the new setup, sorry Atlas bipod still there till I get my FN BAR in 308 this autumn.

This cz is causing me some posterior pain.

My top rail doesn't have enough room for both the magnifier and the Eotech, so im not sure if that picture is an ak or a cz. The bushnell just barely fits.
