Unidentified Object - Help Needed

Hi Folks

I took my JR Carbine to the workbench with the idea of stripping and cleaning

I laid it on the bench for a moment, then picked it up, and the part that is in the pics was on the bench

It may well have been there before I put the rifle down

It looks like some sort of rear sight, but I don't recognise it

The guns I have are:

.40 Cal JR Carbine
Ruger10/22 in Archangel rig
An old Marlin 336
Remington Express Magnum Shotty

Does anyone recognise this part, I am reluctant to shoot any of these guns until I can ID this bit

Any help will be much appreciated

Hmmmm..... Very odd. I would've said a rear sight too. Sorry I can't be of any real help. I was very intrigued by the title of the thread.

Yup, looks like a dovetail mounted rear sight to me too.

I have a 10/22 and an 870 Express as well, and I don't recognize that part from either gun.
