I'll say it. Savages can't shoot. Guns that shoot, thats the scarey-hype crap from the media again, no? :)

I'm very pleased with the accuracy of my savages though, can't wait to get a load developed for the 12btcss in .223, my latest addition to the heard. Its doing pretty well with the winnie 45gr JHPs so far.

I think that depends pretty heavily on opinion. I have always thought Savage rifles looked a lot better than new Remingtons, TC, and one really hideous one I can't remember right now, etc. I am just a student though, I cannot justify spending $2000 on a rifle that shoots just as well as a $600 the only difference being the looks and other small features. I shoot a .204 from prone 99% of the time who cares how it fits into my shoulder I am an avid supporter of thumb hole stocks after shooting this one but I know that for a lot of people it's like pulling nails.

Titch-- it was a one time deal and I got pretty lucky with it. An old bench rest guy at the range I go to sent in two br scopes to bushnell to have them replaced. Apparently the ones he wanted were discontinued so they sent him two of what I got in replacement. It is a perfect scope (IMHO) for the kind of hunting I do but the crosshairs are by fair too thick and the wrong style for what kind of shooting he does. So he threw them both up for sale for $550 just to get rid of them. Funny part is they sat for months before I wanted one... and then everyone I know wanted the second, but it sold to someone else right as I bought mine!

I have the model 25 .233 cal without thumb hole , iam amazed with this gun. I just need to upgrade my scope. Wish it had a metal clip instead of the plastic. They are deadly accurate. I reload 55 g sierra game kings work awesome in mine. Glad to see someone else happy with there's .

There is no doubt people buy $2000 rifles that aren't particularly accurate, however if you're going for accuracy and you know what you're doing you will get a gun more accurate than a out of the box Savage for your 2 grand. Not a knock on Savage, they no doubt give you a very accurate gun for the money, but don't think a $600 savage will shoot as well as a $2000 gun meant for accuracy.
 
I always shied away from savage until I bought a 116fcss in 7mm mag. A decent shooter that I don't have to baby.

Now I'm hooked.

I bought a bvss 22 for warming up and playing at the range and now I'm thinking of a 12fv in 223 to play with as well.

I'm not talking bench rest or custom rig. I'm talking hunting rifles you don't have to baby. And is still an out of the box, practical hunter.
 
With that title I thought you were going to get flamed. Savages are not thr prettiest rifiles but they certainly get the job done and are accurate. I'm really happy with all my savages.
