M-305 feeding problems with norinco 7.62x51 ammo

Tried using Norinco 7.63x51 copper washed steel cased ammo in a M305 and the bolt skips over the next round. I have heard that this Chinese ammo flies at high velocities and runs really high pressures. Regular brass cased 308 Winchester always works perfectly. Could higher pressures be causing the action to move too fast. Does the steel case cause feeding issues??
 
I am using it in my M14 with no issues.

Have you tried different mags?

P.S. My semi auto Browning 1919a4 will not run the Norinco ammo...
 
Seems to work better with the 5/20 mag. The 5/10 mags skip more often. Forgot to mention that. Maybe it's just the mags! I would like to chrono this ammo still to see what performance/pressure it might have. Because the mags don't explain why brass ammo feeds normally. I measured the cases and the seem to be the same dimentions.

My guess is it's the mags! If you put your hand on the bottom of the mag, can you push it up higher? Or does it click in solidly with no movement?

All three mags seem to be pretty solid latching. I'd like to get a few more so I'll get some but I can't understand why factory 308 functions flawlessly. Either way this thing is a hoot 2 shoot.
 
Don't know what if you have modded you rifle but I had the same issue and this is what I found.....
I installed a Wolff oprod guide spring and an unknown make match spring guide. It would shoot my handloads with zero issues but would not feed the norc ammo.Ditched both and put the polytech stuff back in and no issues with the norc ammo. I will be looking at upgrading again but will take more time and thought in what I upgrade with. Check gas system alignment as well.

I've been having the same problem in my M14, but it seems like it's short-stroking, so maybe the ammo is under-powered (or my M14 is oversprung). Also the spent cases would not eject nearly as far as my reloads would. Next time I'll try a different spring and see what happens.
 
Under powered ammo is my guess. When I had mine chopped down to 18.5, the Norc ammo would sometimes short stroke and I would click on an empty chamber. You might solve this problem by upgrading your gas system, as I did. And thus it begins. Before long there won't be much left of your original rifle, and you will have spent three times as much as you planned.
 
Sound like its short stroking , try a different spring but first make sure there is no binding or rubbing on your oprod anywhere , do the tilt test .. Also make sure your gas lock nut is tight and the gas cut off valve is in the right position , i have seen a few people at the range having this issue and it turned out their nut was loose causing gas to escape.. tighten that sucker down good .
 
It's something to do with your gas system, springs, or magazine (or mag springs lol)

I doubt the bolt is skipping. I would start by using different ammo, clean the gas system, grease the parts that need grease and check to see if that screw is set properly on the side.

Im using an m305, and id have to say that the bolt is definitley skipping over the next round. The bolt leaves a mark accross the next round, it is cocked as i notice when i pull the trigger it just clicks. I dissassembled, cleaned and lubed as per the usgi manual. Re tried it and it still does it. Tried two boxes of Remington 308 and it works fine. My gun just doesn,t like the norinco ammo. I really think that it is due to under or over pressure, and possibly all the rounds are not loaded evenly. I need to chronograph this stuff. Thanks guys for your input. I am positive its related to the ammo but may be due to the relationship between this ammo and something in muy gun.
