I probably already know the answer to this - maybe 20 years too late - but does anyone know or know of a source for some cheap 303 ammo. From what I have read, it appears that most of the surplus supplies have dried up, but there may be a few sources out there.

I know the Canadian Rangers still use 303 (Remington 180's I believe), so there may be hope yet. Sometimes reloading takes too much valuable time, so looking for a cheap source, if any.

Thanks

Cheapest would be to buy 7.62X39 surplus and use the bullets and powder to reload your .303 cases.

Sometime, in the not too distant future, this stuff will be just as scarce.;) Cheap ammo only exists as long as the supply is plentiful. Another vote for reloading.

Reloading is the cheapest way to shoot .303. Suplus is all dried up, when you find it it is not really cheaper than commercial, and definitly more expensive than reloads.

Even when I load my "match" rifle ammo where I weigh every charge the whole process of cleaning the brass and loading the ammo takes a whopping 1.5 to 1.8 hours to load up a batch of 100 rounds. And given the price of bullets from Budget Reloading my cost is around 50 cents per round for bullet, powder and primer.

Seems like 100 rounds should last for quite a while. Are you really that hard up for time that you can't spare a couple of hours to keep yourself in ammo for 4 to 5 range outings? Just buckle down and DO IT! ! ! ! In the time it took you to ponder the situation and post this thread you could have loaded up 40 to 50 rounds.

At least with 7.62x54R there would be enough powder to do justice to the .303Brit round. Otherwise they'd just be poofter'y soft rounds with the little sprinkle of powder in the 'x39's... :D
