Swiss Arms rifles being examined for reclassification?

How is it an interesting idea? You'd still need a valid prohib reg cert to do that, and none of those will be issued. All that post does is tell me people here still don't understand how the firearms act works.

If the RCMP determines that the SAN rifles we have are in fact 550 variants, the only possible solution that avoids the rifles being confiscated is political.

Frightening isn't it?

TSE - JR I am not even going to discuss what my opinion is of your actions.

Too bad he wasn't as vigilant when he started importing the rifles. I hope this "born again vigilant citizen" and his friends at SAN can satisfy the RCMP in the allotted time and bring favourable resolve to this debacle, otherwise the collateral damage will be huge .

Does someone who has a full knowledge about everything going on here maybe have a form letter I can print off and sign and mail a few copies in. I don't know if I have a strong enough grasp of all the information to write something appropriate . CSSA, NFA maybe a member here? If so please post a link

Unfortunately, this. And based on history, only the Liberals (and Campbell PC's) have been fond of using OIC in regards to firearms.

True! And that is why a common sense & FAIR rewrite of the Firearms Act is badly needed!!!

Cheers

if someones seriously actually doing a class action lawsuit, hit me up with a pm and I'll contribute what I can to help. i dont own one of these guns, but a buddy of mine does, so I'll help fight the good fight for keeping all gun owners united and in rightful possession of their property.

IMO this is the perfect time to pressure the CPC to change the act. These continuing events highlight how silly the law is, and how much police time is wasted on investigations, etc that could be spent on real crimes. This is the forensic firearms lab of the RCMP, they have truly better things to do with their time.

i definitely agree!

As a side note, regardless of this, I personally prefer doing business with TSE.

Sure. Until they report you to the RCMP for having a gun they think looks "fishy". Then you might not like them.

THANK GOD I LIVE IN TORONTO. Our ranges here have some silly RO's sometime but nothing this silly. Maybe we don't talk to each other on the subway, but we don't report each other to the RCMP!!!

Doesn't matter where you live in Canada people can still ruin it for everyone!

Stop with the common sense - its not common you know...

I'm appalled at what is posted in this thread. As a former Canadian Gun Owner, I think this thing stinks to high heaven.

TSE - JR I am not even going to discuss what my opinion is of your actions.

However the folks who want it broken down for them, and "don't" have time to read this thru, wake up call, your whats wrong with Canadian Gun Owners, you could not be bothered to take 5, 10, 15min or even an hour and find out about an issue that has monumental consequences on your sport/hobby/life? I spit on you, as your not doing anything positive to stop this.

Write your MP, the RCMP should NOT be allowed to re-invent the wheel. The only ISSUE that should be legally allowed bases on the facts as they are shown here (and in the RCMP and NWEST info, at least that I am privy too) should be the issue is if some of the SAN/SIG guns are C/A.
Sorry you issued an FRT for a Semi-Auto gun. Thats done, did not inspect it thoroughly, well sorry, #### happens, live with it RCMP, and also IF this is true that it was not properly inspected, I would argue that whomever the Tech was as the Lab, he should be fired.

More people die in drunk driving incidents than firearms incidents. Heck more kids die in pools than from guns, maybe your MP should be banning pools and cars.
The RCMP should be licensing pool owners, after all its for the children.

:agree: Read it all or don't bother. Sifting through the crap is sometimes needed to find the gold.

So is there any way to get some facts on what's going on with the investigation before the end of the month or do we just wait and hope for the best?

I've only had my classic green for a month, I sure hope I don't have to turn it in to feed the smelter. It's such a beautiful well built rifle.

I personally would rather have this sorted out now, at the beginning than in 5 years when there is how many hundreds to these "old receivers out there". there is no reasonable way to make the S/A's F/A. case closed. the converted SIG/SAN receivers were prohib at some point...allegedly. the RC may take a different stance on those. in Canada, the receiver is prohib for life, i would think CSC should have checked with the RC first for due diligence. if they had, we wouldn't be here would we?

just as a tip....don't ef with the RCMP firearms unit, customs, and Revenue Canada. they always win.

Definitely 100% with you. This needs to be sorted out and with you again on not effing with the G-man!

To clarify - if you read the thread and existing publications - Someone TRADED the rifle to TSE, who in turn upon inspecting it, submitted it for investigation.

And what did they have to gain by doing that? They could have taken it to a private verifier, and if it was found to be dodgy either submitted papers to reregister it as a prohib / transfer it to a 12.x license holder, or just destroyed it.

I fail to see how tattling to the RCMP did them or anybody else any good. I think it really does takes some vindictive sort of personality to go running to the RCMP like that.

Unfortunately it's all ti easy to figure out for them even if it is more work.
Assuming the LGR data is actually non-existant outside of Quebec of course.
All they really need to do is look at licence holder buying patterns. (most of us use credit cards after all) and see if any sales are big enough to cover a CG.
Or even easier is to go to the common sellers of these rifles and "ask" for the sales ledgers.
Then it would be up to you to "prove" you actually sold yours awhile ago while they tear your house apart.
We need to get powerfully involved in the politics of this NOW because the pattern indicates that they are just going to get worse.

How can they confiscate something if they don't know who has what?
