Just out of curiosity, what difference is that going to make if SAN and JR can't pull rabbits out of their hats and the RCMP simply applies written law at their discretion as they've indicated in their correspondence?
it's relevant because that is what started this whole witch hunt and it ended up backfiring on the guy who sent in the rifles for inspection because he sent two of his own that were C/A along with the S/A which he was claiming was a C/A.How are the C/A even relevant anymore? Who even cares? The 540/550 is all that matters now.
The 540 and 550 are so close. It is like saying any variant of a 1996 Honda civic is illegal but a variant of a 1995 Honda civic is ok.
Also isn't it reasonable to assume that the improvements made to make the 550 could be made concurrently to make the classic green? Direct lineage is a assumption. In reality they could be two concurrent designs.
Actually they are not that close. There are significant differences between the 2.
Ever heard of the NRA?

The rifles or the Hondas
I would venture to guess the trip to switzerland is to discuss other things and is just a ploy to keep us happy. I would think Swiss arms amd the RCMP are comunicating directly rather than through a canadian retailer who started this whole ordeal or we are screwedI sure hope the fate Swiss Arms family does not rest on TSE trip to Switzerland to Indiana Jonesesque find said PE-90 blueprints in the SAN archives.
Then again I have faith that if there are said records the swiss would have kept them but then again I expect they would have been found by now and no need for a trans atlantic trip.
Well I can't tell the difference in the Hondas, but I do have significant time with a 540![]()
Exactly Brian. We would not be looking at a likely SAN ban had it not been for a single individuals actions.

Then that is very unfortunate for us because the motives of that retailer are quite clear as to why this all startedYou would be very incorrect in that thought
do you really think the RCMP would have done anything if all the rifles that were sent to them for "inspection" were S/A?I think the Swiss Arms rifles would have come under further scrutiny by the RCMP regardless of the CA issue and the recent actions of TSE, so in that sense I don't see the CA issue as being relevant to the immediate concern of establishing lineage. Where I do consider the CA issue relevant is in understanding the interests and motives of the parties involved and how it affects my confidence in the ability of said parties to convince the RCMP that Swiss Arms rifles should maintain their status --- in this respect, I find the furor around the CA issue to be discouraging.
Is there any way to see how many of each are in country? I have looked for a Heavy metal for years and have been told by many people none were ever imported but then why the FRT#?a) FRT # 129006 - Swiss Arms Black Special Carbine
b) FRT # 119587 - Swiss Arms Black Special
c) FRT # 119482 - Swiss Arms Classic Green
d) FRT # 124216 - Swiss Arms Classic Green Carbine
e) FRT # 124218 - Swiss Arms Classic Green CQB
f) FRT # 119588 - Swiss Arms Heavy Metal
g) FRT # 119485 - Swiss Arms Red Devil
h) FRT # 119484 - Swiss Arms Edition[/I]

what would have happened is entirely speculation, what did happen is a direct result of those rifles being sent to them by TSE and their own control samples being claimed as C/A by the RCMP, that fact can not be argued.I think the RCMP would have eventually raised the question of whether the Classic Green was a variant of the SG 550 regardless of the recent inspections. I'll agree that the inspections likely brought the Swiss Arms rifles to the forefront of the RCMP's attention, but this would have happened regardless. Whether the question is raised now or in 2 or 3 years is immaterial unless you think the RCMP's judgement will be influenced by the number of Swiss Arms rifles on the street (and this could be argued) --- in the end, the importers and SAN were able to answer the question of lineage 12 years ago, and they should be able to answer it again now.
