ARs/858s also being examined for re-classification?

A list from 2010 coming to fruition now makes sense. The rc techs and there commanders would have waited to see what the election brought, then waited to see what was happening with the lgr.

Anyone who has paid attention and accuses others of hiding under tinfoil needs to think twice. Seriously we have seen in the last year alone, prohibs of firearms, increased cfo wait times, continued harrassment of att holders requiring range memberships, seeing as the frts have been removed and emails to the techs prove they are under review predictably means only one thing. Expect the firearms to either be restricted at the least or prohibed out right. I am betting which ever has the lower ownership value will be prohibed and the higher number ones will be restricted.

Yes actually read it, AR's are restricted, the report talks about guns that look like AR's but are not actually AR's and these wouldn't be restricted cause theres no reason to restrict them (just like there was no real reason to restrict AR's in the first place). It's not about reclassifying AR's.

Restricted by what ? Expect the AR is only gun restricted by name can you find second ?

It's either non restricted / restricted or prohibited

They can't restricted any gun by name unless they have new bill passed

That's why they try hard to prove any gun can be easily converted to full auto or its a converted auto
that's only trick they can do if it's a brand new gun which have no related to anything on the prohibited list

I wonder how norinco bring the T97NSR back from dead and passed their inspection
when the last one just get reclassify to prohibited
I bet they look at the new T97 very hard but still can't stop to give a green light

Very interesting, but I would like to know the issue (for the RCMP) about AR15. They are restricted by name, so what they want to do???

What is Also interesting is the approximative cost/firearm and the number registred. That mean they are considering theses 2points: someone want to know" what Will be the cost if we are confiscating theses firearms"?

Not AR-15, SR-22 is/was examined as possible variant of AR-15

What are the actual number of AR's likely registered in Canada? This is the second time I've seen a number in the 2000's, but that seems way off. Am I wrong?

If you read this whole thing you will find RCMP lab stated themselves

"According to the RCMP, the gun is not a member of the AK-47 family.
"It's too different mechanically for us to consider it an AK," said Murray Smith, who manages the RCMP unit that classifies firearms. "There has to be some kind of family lineage dating back to the AK and that simply doesn't exist for the VZ."
But here, the law raises a puzzling contradiction: The VZ looks like the AK-47, and it fires the same round, semi-automatically, yet only one is prohibited. Why ban the AK and not the VZ?"

So that's mean the only way they can reclassify the VZ is through the C/A route ?

Correct me if I am wrong

Careful what you quote and who you attribute it to.
The part I underlined in your quoted post was actually written by the reporter, not stated by the RCMP.

It should be noted that the SR-22 is listed on there as a possible AR variant. What's the lineage of the SR-22 again? Oh yeah a 10-22 with a body kit. Read between the lines on that one folks.

There were some on here that were called tinfoilers when that list first came up in 2010-2011. Looking back on what's still available on that list, what's not, and what's up for review is enlightening to say the least.

we need a section on CGN where pre written letters that can be sent to mp's and the PM are available to download. we just need to fill in some blanks to put who our mp is,print it off sign it and mail it away. this will get MANY more letters out the door.

i am so tired of this nonsense from our police/government

I couldn't agree more. A few blanks with the appropriate mp choices for the day... And email/ printable with a signed signature. Succinct and more likely to galvinize the lazier members of our club. $5 in printouts and stamps goes a long ways.

Sure :D. Here's one for your consideration.

Oh for frick sake people take the tinfoil hats off and stick it back in your pants. Most of the attached articles are dated 2010. Stop dragging out dead and rotten wood to throw on a fire.

Remain dilligent but don't go looking for trouble.

Firearms regulation proposals NEVER DIE!!! They get DEFERRED!!!

Saw this post on the Swiss reclassification thread and noticed their list of guns. I'm wondering if we might be in for a flurry of re-classifications in the near future. We all know the fate of the Walther G22 and now the fiasco with the Swiss Arms series... Here's the link

disgusting-what is classified one day as non-restricted can be,rather arbitrarily,re-classified-the firearm hasn't changed-the political landscape has...

Complacency: A feeling of contented self satisfaction, especially when unaware of upcoming trouble.
Something we canadians are very good at. The whole reason why firearms owners are where we are now. "there is no way anything that stupid can happen!"
GUESS AGAIN, THIS IS HAPPENING!
NO MORE CANADIAN COMPLACENCY !!!

If they can get the SR22s as AR variants every 10/22 in the country will be a variant of the AR and restricted as they're the same gun as the SR.

If those #######s can pull that off we are in for a world of hurt. 50$ says that bumbling idiot Toews doesn't do anything about this either.

So ...if the verifier is designated by the Registrar of Firearms and have been trained and certified by them to certify these rifles, does this mean that the verifier is also responsible for the "misclassified" and should be held responsible both financially and criminally? It is irresponsible that the RCMP can just say oops there was a mistake made back when by one of the certified verifiers so they have no legal responsibility... hand over these firearms because we now know after spending thousands if not hundreds of thousands and butchering numerous amounts of them that we can convert them to full auto.... something your average firearm enthusiast just cannot afford to do

This document will still be relevant for them and the fact they would block so much of it from release shows they are nervous about their thoughts being public.

Just remember folks... Wars are won 'one battle at a time'... This type of 'prohibition by incrementalism' WILL CONTINUE unless we have a fair & common sense rewrite of the Firearms Act!!!

Cheers
Jay

Yes. Crown has attacked the verifier who verified the original T97.
