Get a CZ-858 and a CSA Vz.58 in 5.56 :)

Agreed, I have a deposit down on a VZ. Waiting for it to come in stock. The only thing that scares me right now is the VZ is under review by the RCMP to possibly become a prohibited rifle.

^ Just get a CSA to get around that, they're safe as far as I know. I bought a CSA VZ-58 in 7.62x39 3 months ago, excellent gun, I'd buy another for sure.

CSA, hands down. A buddy has a 858, and after holding it I was glad I bought the CSA. Fitment and machining is better, and it doesnt have that god awful matte grey finish on it. Worth the extra money.

Aren't a ton of people having problems with the CSA in 5.56?

I wouldn't touch 5.56 with a 10 foot pole. Broken firing pins left and right on those CSA's.

I hear you, but I want the original with wood finish. The finish is also more durable on the VZ. Might not have a choice though.

CZ's llok like they may be getting a "better" look over from the RCMP for reclassification. Your only options might be is for a CSA, CSA finish is crap compared to the CZ. The bluke finish on the CZ is ugly but durable as all hell.
CZ's are WAY more reliable then the CSA's but the CSA's are a newly built rifle with thicker receiver walls and drilled for a scope mount base already on them.

Seems the supposed "surplus" feel of the CZ's is terrible to people but the parts hold up alot better then the CSA's newly machined bolts, firing pins, charging handles, gas pistons, ummmmmmm............

Please don't confuse the 5.56 and 7.62 vz's. I have yet to hear of a single malfunction from a 7.62 CSA.

I have both. Love my CZ. My CSA (5.56) is off for extractor warranty. I see very little reason for the substantial price gap. The VZ is a little prettier, but at this point, it better be. The only thing mine is doing is being looked at!

You could get the furniture kit from Corwin-arms if you really want it, I think it's about 100 bucks. I've put a little under 1000 rounds through mine, no issues whatsoever, knock on wood. The finish has worn here the folder contacts the receiver when folded, so as said, the finish isn't extremely durable.

I'd trust my CZ over a CSA any day of the week! Can't beat something that was built for use by it's national army reserve as opposed to some manufacturer in the US.

I'm just worried about this reclassification crap.

I have both, in multiple barrel lengths. My take: CSA finish is nicer, but doesn't wear half as well. Other than that, if you get a good one with no defects, or poorly assembled components, you are good to go. Buy both, a non-restricted CZ, and a 11.8" CSA.
Cheers!

Ps: stick to 7.62x39!

I tried both and bought a CSA 11.8 carbine in 7.62 - it's been 100% reliable and gives Fudds aneurisms, fantastic firearm.

I have an 11.8" carbine in 7.62 as well, it has been 100% so far and I don't expect that to change.

Im not. I dont shoot 223 cz style rifles

What reliability issues are you referring to on the 7.62 vz58's?

Mark

CZ is better, I have both in 7.62. CZ has over 1500rds more through it and is in much better condition than my CSA.

And as some have said the CZ parts will outlast the CSA's. So far I agree 100% with that. 700rds through my CSA and there are some serious wear on the rails and break lock as well as the paint is shat!!!! Over all the CSA is my show off VZ my CZ is my go hard.

Yeah the CZ is under review apparently from the rcmp cuz some of the rifles marstar brought in jave a weld spot to replace the full auto sear or whatever and now thr rcmp are claimjng its easy or some crap to convert.

Who really knows tho as we will just have to wait and see.
