I've been poking around and bothering some people lately regarding an M1A. It's not done yet, but I'm proud of it and want to brag a little. Springfield M1A Loaded with stainless medium barrel, NM sights and walnut stock. I took it to the range and managed to get 2" grouping at 100m with the iron sight.

I'm still looking into a cheek riser with ammo pouch, mount and scope, but here it is. Just click the thumb.

More to come when I'm done with the missing stuff! If you have suggestion for the riser with pouch, I'm all ears!

Edit: 4" grouping not 2" as in diameter and not radius :)

Springfields are garbage, I wouldn't own one, I only buy LRB's.:stirthepot2:
Just kidding of course.Laugh2

The general opinion seems to be that LRB and SEI are much more reliable than SAi. Actually SAi might very well be the the less reliable of all original manufacturers. I would have went for an LRB, likely an M25 to avoid the scope mounting issues, but hey, I don't have that kind of money. So I got a Springfield, knowing it has a lifetime warranty :)

My Springfield was as reliable as any semi I've ever owned (zero malfunctions), so you can rest easy, she's as good as any LRB's reliability (I have an M25 for reference).

"...4" grouping not 2"..." Change ammo. It should shoot better than that. SA Inc voids the warrantee, if that applies to you, if you shoot reloads, but you'll be shooting ammo that is tailored for the rifle.
"...a lifetime warranty(SIC)..." A limited warrantee that is easily voided by SA Inc. Read it thoroughly.
"...riser with pouch..." Don't. You won't be able to easily get at the mags and it won't be comfortable shooting.

I had a standard Springfield years ago. It shot just over moa with the match ammo I tried. I also had a NM springfield, which was a sub moa performer. Try your rifle with some match ammo to see how it does with the best (theoretically) ammo possible.:)

It was the first time I tried the rifle, with iron sight and it wasn't secured in place very well. I had Federal 180gr, nothing fancy. The problem was likely the shooter, not the rifle ;)
I don't plan on voiding the warranty, so I'd rather buy quality ammo than tailoring my own. I'll read it again, thanks for the tip.

PS: war·ran·tee, one to whom a warranty is made

Just as a quick caution should be shooting 150 to 168gr in an M14, 180gr can cause damage as it was never designed to shoot it.

The general opinion of whom exactly? Is it because it reportedly has all cast parts? Which is nonsense by the way. Most of you guys couldn't identify a casting from a forging if you had to.

I don't think anyone will deny that an LRB is the top of the line but let's not kid ourselves. At $3500 for the base model it isn't inexpensive. Those who moan about $2000 for a Springfield dare not go that direction. M1A's shoot fine and you'll get lots of good years out of one.
