screw torque for rings???

How tight should the rings on a rifle be torqued? Both the screws attaching the rings to the gun and the rings to the scope? I have a 20-120 inch pound torque wrench. Thx.

Aluminum or steel? rings are 20IP max for steel usually.


Base screws: 30 IP
Windage screws: 30 to 40 IP
Rings, aluminum: 10 to 15 IP
Rings, steel: 15 to 20 IP
Stocks without pillar bedding, wood, fiberglass, synthetic: 40 IP
Stocks with pillar bedding: up to 65 IP

some scope rings are adjustable for windage. Like the Millett angle-loc.
