Cerakoted Schmidt and Bender owners

So I recently picked up a tan cerakoted S&B 5-25 and of course am pretty excited about mounting it and get shooting. My issue is that I picked up a set of Nightforce 34mm medium rings and just placing the scope in the lower halves, I noticed it is sticky when I remove it. I tried with my Premier Reticles(also 34mm tube) and no problem, rotates freely. I figure it is just enough extra material applied during the cerakoting process to make it a snug fit. Has anyone else noticed this ?

I figure I will get a 34mm lapping bar and work the rings slightly till I don't get the sticky feeling when taking the scope out of the rings, either that or I'll take a beltsander with some 80 grit to the main tube of the scope till I don't see anymore paint!LOL. It would be a shame to mount the scope into the rings and mar the finish on a brand new scope.

No I wouldn't want the scope to move but I don't want to damage the tube or put ring marks on the scope either. The scope should move freely inside the rings without the top being tightened down but it won't even move with it just sitting in the lower halves alone. That's why I figure a light once over with the lapping bar/compound should be enough to just relieve some of the pressure.
 
Cerakote properly applied is pretty darn thin, so much so that they even recommend applying it to your BCG, bolt, and all other moving parts, I find it pretty hard to believe that it would make that much of a difference...
 
How does the tan colour look on the scope?
I've been looking at ordering one as well, however the pics on the Internet make the tan colour look different than standard coating you see in most 'tan' firearms...kind of a yellow tint in it.
I haven't had the opportunity to see one in person....how do you see it?

It definitely has a yellow tinge to it compared to normal tan

Take a proper measurement of the scope tube with your calipers or micrometer, as they do vary a bit from nominal size between brands, coatings and what not.
Depending on how much bigger than 34mm it is and its interference with the rings, and how picky you want to get, its easy enough for any shop to turn a lapping bar that will give the proper fit if a generic won't quite do it.

Good advice. I'll measure it up tonight. I have already asked my gunsmith to turn me a lapping bar so I'll take my scope over there so he can check my measurements and turn the bar accordingly. Thanks SND!
