Well the new rifle came in the mail from P&S yesterday. Its a '44 Tula with a '41 SVT 40 PU. Rifle is in beautiful shape! Has a bright shiny bore, bolt is nice and smooth, and trigger pull is reasonably light and very smooth, but has the usual half mile of creep. It unfortunately has a post WWII stock on it, but the scope is war dated so in my eyes that makes up for it. The rest they had were post war scopes with either WWII stocks or post war as well.

Everything else is the same as everyone else's, floorplate is matched to the rifle and everything else matches, scope serial is electro penciled on the bracket with the rifle serial etc.

Waiting on some PRVI brass, Lee dies and some 150gr Hornady flat based bullets and then off to the range.

Does anyone have a good recipe for these bullets over IMR 4895? What weight bullet were they meant to use?

Thanks!

The Soviet load was a 148gr bullet. Can be easily duplicated with a 150gr SP and either Re#15 or IMR 4350.I have two buddies that get 3 shot 1/2 groups at 100 yards.I get two in the same hole and the third always 1/2" low.I blame my refusal to wear my glasses and the thick picket fence post .For a old gun very impressive.Harold

Thanks for the tip Harold!

The mag floor plate is matched to the rifle but the rest is matching. Thanks for the compliment!

I've bought from Jean several times now, every experience gets better and better. His communication is short and to the point, and there is no BS. What he tells you you are getting is often not nearly as nice as what shows up at your door. This is the second rifle I have bought in two years there, I bought a '42 Longbranch as well that was listed as good but the bore was closer to excellent and finish was close to 90% there. Also bought a Danish 10.5" Garand bayonet and it was in unissued condition, near perfect. Buy with confidence, I'd rather give them my money than anyone else.

I figured as much. I have not bought from Jean yet, his line was busy already at 9:30am this morning. He just got a boat load of rifles in the past couple of weeks. I will be calling him on a Swede M38. Thanks for the reply!

+1

Plus he also actually responds to his email (unlike some companies) and quickly.

Congrats on the new toy. Love Mosins.

Jongun you just have to go for it! I sold a very nice Remmington M1917 PCMR rifle to be able to afford this one.

I basically cleaned the bore and lightly cleaned the outside of the rifle without disassembling. I want to shoot it soon but I'd hate to mar it!

It's only a matter of time before I pick up one of these babies.
