For the folks who have used both or compared both side by side, what can you say one way or the other?
Reading the specs from each of the web sites they seem quite similar in size & weight as well as FOV and eye relief etc...
Example, Grouse River lists both:
Leupold VX3 3.5-10x40 ---- $649.99
Swarovski Z3 3-10x42 ---- $919.99

I have a Swarovski AV series ( what is now Z3) and there is no comparison between the glass in it and the glass in the VX3 series Leupolds. It has also proved to be a very rugged scope that has held its zero well.

In my opinion its absolutely worth the slight premium you pay over the Leupold. Another great scope you should check out is the new HD5 series from Zeiss. Very impressive for the price. I will personally be buying either of these before I buy another VX3.

Yeah, some of the specs on the Swarovski listed for the scope on their web site are not listed for the Leupold, that I can see anyway. Like the light transmission, 90% & twilight factor 8.7-20.5 ?????

What? No more internet tough guy routine? Whats happened to you?

This isn't the gtrussell I've come to love... I mean loathe.

I prefer to just ignore his nonsense, even if it does include virtually everything that he posts.

I switched all my hunting rifle scope over to Swarovski and if you happen to be considering either the brx/brh reticle or the Boone and Crockett reticle Swarovski wins big time here too. The brh allows you to shoot further and the holder over marks are not in some random moa holdover marks meant as a compromise for most cartridges they are in .5 mils.

swarovski by a mile, a generous mile.

as for gtrussel please ignore his input, his posts are void of any intelligent insight.

I would take either Swarovski, Zeiss, or Trijicon over Leupold, and yes I have (or have had) all of the above. That's not to say Leupold is bad, just there is better - especially when you factor in the special Canadian pricing Leupold screws us with.

I really like the Swaro BRH reticle. The BRX reticle, to me at least, seems a bit fine for low light conditions.

Both of my Cooper rifles in 7mmSTW, wear Swarovski Z5 3.5-18x44 scopes with the BRH reticle. The BRH works great in low light, unlike the BRX, which is too fine. Prior to the Z5s, I had the Swarovski AV 3-10x42 scopes on four of my big game rifles.
